Why have you closed? My family love going to San Rocco. Had many a wonderful meal there. The staff, food and ambiance were perfect. My grandchildren cried when I told them it had closed. We are all so very disappointed we won't be able to go there anymore..

Went on the strength of the other reviews. Disappointing. Bruschetta is garlic & olive oil on toasted bread, often with tomato, basil and mozzarella - here it is toasted bread with vegetable/olive oil mix topped with tomato, coriander, onion and lettuce! With no garlic too. It was like toast topped with salad from a local indian takeaway. Service was slow, main course arrived about 70 mins after arrival despite phoning before hand to check availability.

Visited the restaurant on recommendation however was extremely disappointed with the unfriendly staff and felt very unwelcome. We chose the early door special price and found the quantity and quality of food insufficient, compared to local restaurants offering a similar deal. Although informed owners of our first impression they were uninterested. Not somewhere I would recommend or visit again.

It should be fairly easy to get a table for two on a Friday night in January but to check I rang ahead and sure enough they told us to just come down. Excitedly we entered the Cheetham Hill branch of San Rocco, rather swank considering the greasy kebab shops and pound shops that surround it. Upon being seated we're asked for a drink, whilst struggling to place a bulky coat on the back of a flimsy seat (its January remember). After attempts at being palmed off with a Bud instead of the unavailable Peroni, a nice cold Moretti arrives and the perfect amount of time elapses before our order is taken, albeit coldly from a tired elderly Italian. The Goats Cheese in filo pastry is just as expected and the hints of garlic finish it off nicely. My Fillet Dolcelatte is also as sublime, maybe slightly undercooked but the crispy outer layer more than made up for it. My wife's Lamb in Rosemary + Mint was also cooked beautifully. After being given the sweets list, it seemed we were profusely ignored and although we were gagging for a few cheeky espressos, we decided to leave it after a 15 minute wait. Overall, San Rocco offer excellent food but when with such hostile, awkward and lazy service in an uncomfortable lifeless environment with no background music and only other table's conversation to fill that void, you have to ask yourself, is it worth it?

Probably the worst Italian restaurant we have ever visited. Poor quality tasteless food, over cooked in the microwave. The pasta sauce was obviously mass produced and bought in. Service was appalling with the surliest staff in Manchester. We eat out in Manchester 3 or 4 times each week and will never ever visit this disgusting restaurant again. Visit at your peril or expect disappointment. Better still buy the same quality food from your local supermarkets "value" selection.

The food is good at this restaurant, especially the pasta. Although the quantity of food is quite small. The lunch menu is very attractive. This is a nice restaurant but I am always disappointed by the service. The waiters are not smiling. I will come back for the low price and food quality of the lunch menu.

Maybe it was our 6pm arrival, maybe it was the fact that Italy were due to play Germany in the World Cup semi final later that evening but San Rocco, normally as reliable and recommendable a restaurant as you could hope for, was lacking two important ingredients - atmosphere (piped classical muzak) and service (without a smile or the carafe of wine we ordered). The quality of the food, as ever, was admirable and the bill pleasingly light on the wallet. Will go back again but this time after the World Cup.
San Rocco
I have dined here a number of times and have always been delighted with the service and the quality of food. The ambience is definately not quiet but this did not affect my superb evenings there.
San Rocco
My partner and I have been visiting coming to this restaurant for the past seven years. If you love Italian food this is the place to be. The food is first class, and the variety is very impressive. The staff are always warm and welcoming. I have mentioned this superb restaurant to all my friends and colleagues. Top marks to all the staff at San Roccos. I look forward to each visit.
