Gosport community pub with a nautical feel, just minutes away from Stokes Bay beach.

About The Seahorse

The Seahorse is a community pub in Alverstoke, Gosport, just a few minutes’ walk from the Hampshire seaside at Stokes Bay. And the pub has a real nautical feel to it too, both in the fresh coastal décor and the menu which has plenty of fish and seafood choices to go at. There’s also lots of other options including hand-stretched and stone-baked pizzas, burgers and a selection of classic British and international main dishes. The Seahorse has a patio and garden area which comes into its own in the warmer months and the pub is dog- and family friendly too. There’s also a roster of regular events at The Seahorse  including quiz nights, karaoke and live music.

We went to the seahorse for Sunday lunch. The food was better than average - in fact it was very good. We had the steak pie and roast lamb. But the ambience was not so good - the restaurant was very cold as the heating was off and it was a cold March day. There wasn’t any feeling of coziness to counteract the chill. The staff however were efficient and service was good. A pity - the food was very good but we rushed home to warm up!

From the moment we walked in the door the welcome was warm & friendly, sorry missed the young ladies name, but she was bubbly & fun, service was great, Joes pizzas still fabulous. Look forward to going back soon.

A very disappointing experience!! We had booked a table and when we arrived we were shown to a dirty table and so moved to another equally dirty table which a lovely waitress cleaned for us, the floors and chairs were also dirty. My 3 guests ordered off the special lunch time menu all choosing scampi chips and peas which duly arrived on cold plates, the peas were cold and the chips looked like jacket potatoes deep fried, but had not been drained and were dripping in oil! for dessert they ordered syrup pudding which was a normal pudding cut in half and again cold, we asked for more custard which was of good quality and even served hot. I ordered soup off the main menu which was lovely but the smallest potion imaginable! i have to say the waitress was lovely i

My family and I have recently moved to the area and we were keen to try out our new local. The Seahorse did not disappoint. The food was delicious and plentiful. The customer service was wonderful. We have now visited twice and will be definite regulars.
