About Spicy Hut

At the city end of Rusholme, award-winning Spicy Hut has recently been completely refurbished and has bagged two prestigious curry chef awards – it won the Manchester heat and came third in the northwest. It also scored particularly highly on hygiene, which is always nice to know where restaurants are concerned and is the first restaurant in Rusholme to receive the Gold Award for Manchester's Environmental Business Pledge. Spicy Hut is spread over two levels – downstairs a 67-seater restaurant and above a function room that can cater for parties of up to 55. The restaurant, although generically an Indian, actually specializes in Pakistani cuisine, meaning stronger flavours but less heat (ie less emphasis on chilli). The chef also prides himself on using no food colouring – everything is natural and gluten-free. As well as Pakistani cuisine, Spicy Hut's signature dish is their sizzling flambee. Spicy Hut has an outside catering arm and this is also one of the few Rusholme restaurants that delivers.

We visit the Spicy Hut regularly. The food is fantastic and the staff are friendly and entertaining. This week they made a special chocolate curry for our 5 year old daughter and it was fantastic. When they saw how much I liked it they brought out a chocolate jalfrezi for me to try - it had to be one of the best curries I've ever tasted.

staff seemed indifferent, due to our unfamiliarity, restaurant was obviously full of locals who held the attention of the staff. food average to good, starter dis-appointing due to salad served slightly dry and at room temperature.. main course ok though.

I'm really disappointed with Spicy Hut, as someone that has been going to the restaurant for the last 6 or 7 years. I decided to give the delivery service a try. The delivery took an hour and a half, and the driver repeatedly lied about where he was. He also didn´t keep the food in the heated container to keep it hot. I had to stand outside for ages to look out for the driver, because he kept lying and saying he was on our road. Although the food itself is always good, it was lukewarm at best when it arrived. We were given 50% off the bill, but not before the guy on the phone had made every excuse (that it was raining lightly!) and shouting and swearing at me on the phone. Wouldn't recommend anymore.

The Spicy Hut in Rusholme is simply superb. Every month for over ten years my wife and our friends have visited many restaurants in Manchester and have not found more tasty, good value food to compare with 'The Spicy'. We always find the staff very friendly and although it gets busy, it's never long to wait for a table. A recent revamp brought the comfiest seats I've ever sat on! Well worth a visit.......you will return!

We have been going to Spicy Hut for many years and enjoy it every single time. This year we heald my 30th birthday celebration there. We were a party of 21 people and I have to say the service was just wonderful. We pre ordered all our food and we all got just what we ordered. The food was as delicious as always. All my friends have praised the night highly and loved everything about it. Thank you Spicy Hut. You did us proud. Five stars all they way!!!!!

After reading other recommendations on various sites about Spicy Hut, we thought we would give it a try. We was not disappointed. There was no pressure to come in, which is always nice, once we entered we were met with a warm and friendly greeting and asked where we would like to sit (we was earlier than most diners and soon it soon started to fill up). The waiter was polite and courteous. We ordered Chicken tikka karahi and cicken rogan josh, pilau rice and a keema nan. The main meal was delicious,The karahi had a smoky taste too it, different to the normal tikka marinate but was pleasantly different with just the right balance of spice and flavour. Helen had the rogan josh and was equally enjoyed with that slight twist to the norm. Highly recommended, definitely go again a very relaxing place to eat....try it

the chef's specials (the Handy and Matoke) are the best I've had anywhere - just nothing like the boring fare served in 99% of curry houses. These are lovingly prepared dishes that are about half the price they ought to be. I've eaten in some very expensive Indian restaurants and never tried anything as good as the Handy or Matoke. Ignore the decor though!

I have never ever ordered a meal where I have had to call the company back and ask them to collect their meal and ask for a refund. The food is a not edible and the managers attitude was just as bad, putting the phone down on me and telling me I am wrong. Surely feedback is important to any business owner. I urge anyone who is looking for fresh, decent food, stay away from the spicy hut. I have had some pretty rubbish take-aways in my time, but not one item from this company was in anyway acceptable.

With all the curry houses in Rusholme, it can be a bit of hit or miss situation trying to choose one. Take my advice and try Spicy Hut. Nowhere else comes close, not in Rusholme, in fact, I’ve not eaten a better curry in Rusholme. But then, I’ve been spoilt, you may get "surprise ch**en" on you first visit !.
