About Spoon World Buffet and Bar

Spoon World Buffet and Bar first opened in Chatham in 2012 and now has branches in Ipswich, Basildon and Portsmouth. Each follows the same successful formula of providing diners with a huge choice of dishes and cuisines from around the world at one fixed price. You will not go hungry at Spoon! There’s a choice of Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian, Carvery and Kebab as well as a selection of Desserts. And live cooking stations include Teppanyaki, Pizza, Pancakes and Roasts. Spoon is fully licensed and is open from 5pm weekdays and 12 noon at weekends.

Sorry to say it was terrible. On holiday in the area, I'd got a bit lost finding Spoons and was 15 minutes late (7.45). We were told food was stopping at 8.30 so I was unsure if I should proceed, the person greeting me said it was my fault for being late. So myself and my friend paid in full. We were rushed. The kitchen staff stood staring at the customers eating. The chicken was incredibly dry, cold, overdone. All of the dishes were luke warm and not fresh at all. Many dishes were not available, I didn't have time to order any food to be cooked fresh, I had to take grab a sweet early to avoid missing it. 3 times I was asked if they could take my plate before I'd finished. It was a waste of money, poor quality foods and pretty hostile environment where I felt watched and unwelcome.

Lovely food well cooked, but I think because it was the last slot 7:30 - 9pm, wr felt a bit rushed

We had a lovely lunchtime here, we all found something we liked as we have many different tastes between us including a vegetarian. All food was cooked well and tasty. Staff friendly, did not feel pressured or rushed.

The staff were super kind , supportive and professional. The Manager was considerate and went the extra mile to ensure we were satisfied. The lady in charge of payment was very friendly and kind.

The food and service was absolutely outstanding I couldn’t fault a single thing, highly recommend, really good prices for such good food, we attended as a party of 8, the young girl at reception was beyond amazing, friendly, helpful and polite absolute credit to your restaurant:) 5 stars from us

Terrible meal was a party of 6 everyone’s food was not up to standard some of the dishes we chose to eat was half cold half warm Waiter when collecting plates spilled a plate of food on one of my sons even after we told him to stop staking plates on what he had brought from another table Also my youngest son has spent today being sick from something that he ate

It was nothing special. Most of the fried food seemed like it had been sitting out for a while, dry and hard. My child even complained that it was difficult to chew. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return.
