About Spoon World Buffet and Bar

Spoon World Buffet and Bar first opened in Chatham in 2012 and now has branches in Basildon, Portsmouth and Ipswich on St Matthew’s Street. Each follows the same successful formula of providing diners with a huge choice of dishes and cuisines from around the world at one fixed price. You will not go hungry at Spoon! There’s a choice of Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian, Carvery and Kebab as well as a selection of Desserts. And live cooking stations include Teppanyaki, Pizza, Pancakes and Roasts. Spoon is fully licensed and is open from 5pm weekdays and 12 noon at weekends

Great selection of tasty food including live kitchen. I don’t understand a soul that mentions negative comments on price, it is a buffet, unlimited food… how can you get any better than limitless food at a fixed price? Mind boggling. The staff & atmosphere are the only let down. The head honcho is clearly rushed to keep everything under control. The servers offer zero interaction, just think that abroad all inclusive you would clear your own plates so not as bad as it seems, but a smile would be nice. However the kitchen staff are friendly & chatty. Embrace the modern world, there are literally no issues with a mixed gender bathroom. Kids do run around screaming but that is not the establishments fault. Overall 4.5/5 have dined four times and will come again.

It was my first time eating at the Spoon World Buffet & Bar yesterday. I enjoyed the food I picked, thank you, but I did not enjoy the air inside the restaurant – there was a rather unpleasant smell evocative of a facility that hasn't been freshened up for a while, which made it feel unclean. The music was loud and the same style throughout, not everyone's cuppa tea. The toilets were... mixed! And not particularly clean. That was the most awkward thing for me yesterday. Considering the overall experience, the price was too high – £21.50 per person. Cosmo in Romford and Spoon Buffet in Basildon charge about the same but they are a lot nicer and cleaner and the smell inside was absolutely fine. I won't be coming back to Spoon World Buffet & Bar in Ipswich and I will not recommend it to friends for special occasions like birthdays.

I personally think a drink should be included in the meal price. It’s overpriced, but food was nice. Also the waitresses are mute, they don’t speak when sitting you at your table or when they take your plates nothing. I get most are young but no communication at all comes across rude.

We love it here. It is always great food, friendly staff and the variety is brilliant. The food is always fresh, the place is clean, well tended by staff and value wise….we can not find anywhere better which provides so Many cuisine options, which makes a larger party so much easier to cater for. We are always greeted politely and the staff are efficient, bearing in mind how many it can seat, you never feel rushed or like you are queueing (apart from at the door, but we always book which makes it quicker)
