About Staining Lodge Golf Course and Glass House

Set in 160 acres of Fylde countryside but just 10 minutes’ drive from Blackpool, Poulton and Lytham St Annes, Staining Lodge is an 18-hole golf course with a contemporary clubhouse and a standalone event venue – The Glass House – which is ideal for weddings and private functions. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea are served in the clubhouse which makes the most of its south-facing aspect with floor-to-ceiling windows, bi-fold doors and a large terrace overlooking the beautiful countryside. In winter, a real log fire keeps everybody cosy. Breakfast is served from 9am daily and lunchtime sees a varied menu including soups, sandwiches, salads, daily specials and Roast Beef every Sunday. Signature dishes include home-made pies, quiches and fishcakes. Afternoon tea is a speciality with seasonal and themed afternoon tea menus including a special Baby Shower afternoon tea; pre-booking is essential. The Glass House opened in April 2018 and has been designed as a blank canvas to accommodate any wedding or party theme. Tall windows wrap the room and look out over the Fylde countryside with bi-fold glass doors opening out onto a private landscaped garden. It can accommodate up to 150 guests seated and 200 party-style.

Booked for Christmas lunch for 13 of us on 14th December. Meal was by pre-order which was perfect as we were on a limited time. Various emails had been exchanged confirming first and second courses for everyone. One person was ill but had rung and asked for her sandwich to be take away instead. When we arrived our table was ready and drinks order was taken. We then waited around half an hour for the first course having already confirmed which item was for takeaway. One persons second course was brought out too but luckily it was a sandwich so he kept hold of it. Plates were taken and we waited the second course. 2 platters were brought to the table, but only one had been ordered, the gent took this and we waited for the other food which were mainly desserts. I noticed the waiter had taken the other platter back to the kitchen and come out with 2 again and gone to another table. We waited for ages for our desserts, some having to leave for pre booked meetings. After a few prompts they brought our desserts. When paying it appeared that the waiter had mixed the order of 2 platters and as one had been brought to our table, they were waiting for him to finish before bringing desserts but this was clear from my emails that his platter was his second course and should be brought out with desserts. Desserts were a let down to be honest, Black Forest Eton mess had blueberry’s and strawberry’s but not cherries as it should have and was very bland. We have always had lovely food here but the service just wasn’t good this time and it wasn’t that busy. Given that we had pre ordered it shouldn’t have been so long to bring the food out

Very disappointed with our lunch on 22nd Dec. I have been several times before and have always been very pleased but it was not up to the previous standard. I appreciate it was very busy. The staff did their best but the food was not worth what they were charging - especially the children's menu which was pathetic . Also, it wasn't very festive. Disappointed this time.

Visited for lunch with 3 friends, Christmas dinners for 3. Everyone said it was a lovely tasty meal. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be back.

Food, as always very tasty but this time hot chocolate & latte were a little on the cool side and could do with being a tad hotter - would not prevent me from going back + I will ask for a "hot" coffee & a "hot" hot chocolate next time we go.

Garden breakfast is perfect. Best breakfast I’ve had maybe ever. The full English we ordered was also top quality. Perfect poached egg. Service was from delightful staff who were very attentive. I can’t wait to go again even though it’s a 90 mile round trip!

We are a local sports club based in Blackpool and arranged a Christmas party with turkey dinner and desserts. The food was so delicious and tasty, The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating to our needs. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and was well set out for the Christmas party."it was the best". I would like to thank the staff and owners for there caring and patience. This is our fourth time at this venue and will continue to do so . Again thanks Blackpool boccia club

Although the food was of an extremely high quality, some of our party of 6 was a little disappointed at the lack of the Christmas feel to it. Unlike last year in the actual glass house that was brilliant, this was very much like any other afternoon tea on any other day. There were no crackers, party hats general Christmas feel. We also had to ask for the food as everyone else in the room had theirs and we had been sat for over 30mins and not received anything. Once asked it was swiftly with us. Some of the party were also a little disappointed in the lack of Xmas theme, and felt although you were trying to make it a bit extra special, some of the items weren’t to their taste (which will happen) The gluten free option we had apparently was not to the same standard as previous afternoon teas we have had here. Overall we felt a little let down, from our previous experiences, but I’m hopeful it won’t deter us from coming again in the future. I must add though, that all staff on duty, especially the young well spoken slender gentleman, who I felt nothing was too much trouble
