Eat here regularly and it's fantastic every time. Only disappointment was the last visit (27/8/11) where they announced a supplement for scallops (no problem in principle) but the scallops were tiny & tasteless.

Had lunch at the Stansfield recently. The food was excellent, and plenty of it, very good value. The food took quite a while to arrive, but it was worth it when it did. I was disappointed that, once our plates had been cleared, no one offered us the dessert menu or coffee. And it's not the warmest venue I've eaten in; despite it being freezing outside, the heating didn't appear to be on, which was a shame. The food warmed us up, but it would have been good not to have been chilly waiting for the food. Will still go back though :)

This place really cannot be beat for quality and excellent value for money. My family & friends dine here on a regular basis and to be honest we can't rate it highly enough. The food is superb and the staff are polite & friendly.

I recently had a meal at the Stansfield Arms with a friend for our birthdays. The meal (two courses) was excellent and a good portion size. The staff were also very very helpful and very polite and cheerful. I would recommend you to anyone who asked me where to go for an excellent meal. Wot made the meal more special was the company I dined with! I have visited the Stansfield Arms on numerous occasions and have always found the food to be of a high standard. In the dining areas the predominantly youngish staff are extremely presentable and in the main very polite. However, I suspect that the staff have been recruited for these qualities rather than any serving experience or skills - I might be wrong. I have been disappointed with the level of service on every occasion that I have eaten in the Stansfield. I have found it always very slow & a bit chaotic - kitchen losing orders/food arriving on the wrong tables....that sort of thing. I have not been back to the Stansfield for some time since a very disappointing two hour wait for a main course that never arrived! Visit on a quiet day, allow plenty of time and you might enjoy some good well priced food....but you are unlikely to see me there as I don't have the time or patience that I once had.

The food's lovely and we would go back more often but the service was quite disappointing on a number of occasions. It wasn't even that busy. Would definitely recommend it for the food - just hope the service has improved since we last went.

It is a very nice pub with a warm welcome all staff are friendly and helpful they meet your needs to the best they can. They deserve a pay rise, as you can tell when you go in however they are low on staff and should employ some more. apart from that everything is great.
