There's no doubt that the food at Tabb's is good. I would take issue with the claim of a weekly changing menu though. We went for an evening meal in April and again in July and encountered exactly the same menu on both occasions. Given that it's not exactly a long menu I won't be going again in a hurry. I do like a bit of variety.

I cannot speak highly enough of this gem of a restaurant. We were able to book a table during the Cornish food festival, and had a lovely evening. The waitress was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her or the chef Nigel Tabb. An element of my dish was altered with no fuss at all due to my dislike of mushrooms! The waitress never tired in answered all our questions regarding matching wines to our food choices, and we were shown to our table when our first course was ready. The food was wonderful, our choices were the duck and venison and the deserts were luxurious with home made ice creams and sorbets. The meal was finished off with hand-made chocolates, a little bite of heaven! When you are next in Truro, in need of a fine dining experience, book a table at Tabbs.

We can always find an excuse to go to Tabbs because it's so good. Everything is sourced locally and cooked fresh to order by Nigel - you can even get a glimpse of him cooking your meal. All the food is cooked on the premises from the bread at the beginning right through to the chocolates at the end - everything is made there by Nigel Tabb himself, and boy, oh boy, is he a great chef!

we recently got married in Truro and whilst browsing the Internet to find suitable venue to take our guests who had travelled down from Lancashire to celebrate with us we came across Tabbs. We had no prior knowledge of Nigel & his reputation but on contacting him he went out of his way to help us with our menu etc. On arriving at Tabbs the whole party was bowled over with the decor & we all agreed that the food was he best we had ever tasted anywhere. A big THANKYOU to Nigel & his staff for making our day extra special. We will definitely be visiting him on our anniversary.

We went to Tabb? using the Dine in style promotion from the West Briton as we heard it was expensive so wanted to see what the food was like before spending too much. We thought it was excellent the food was really good and we enjoyed it immensely so will definitely go back for a special occasion. Looking at the rest of the menu it isn? as expensive as i was led to believe either. The pork belly was melt in the mouth really good. Definitely recommend it.

Crikey the food is good here! Had a business lunch on the hoof but still had time for a superb amuse of Jerusalem Artichoke veloute, a main special of gently Moroccan spiced, slowly braised neck of lamb with perfectly cooked veg and creamy mash my lunch guest had a goats cheese dish with onion marmalade, bean shoots and sundried tomato. We finished with a velvety chocolate marquise and home made campari and grapefruit sorbet. Deal done!

I wanted to go somewhere special for my 50th birthday, and having eaten before at Tabbs Portreath I knew their new Truro restaurant would be just the place. I was not disappointed! It has been beautifully decorated and furnished in a modern but relaxed style and is very welcoming on arrival. The service is first-rate, professional but friendly at the same time. And the food.......absolutely wonderful. The combination of flavours is quite exceptional, every mouthful a delight. My birthday was indeed a very special occasion. For anyone who has not yet discovered Tabbs, you have a treat in store!

In need of comforting food on a drab mid week evening, I knew what I needed was available at Tabbs new place. The Parsnip soup with toasted sesame oil was a revelation, served with moorish home baked rolls. The main of red mullet was perfectly cooked and came with squid ink tagliatelli and a delicate creme of snow pea and mint, side orders of pommes boulangere and green beans made for a satisfying meal. Superb!

I went for lunch recently I always try new restaurant openings, I confess that I had been to Tabbs when it was in Portreath and had a great meal. So expectations were high especially as the new Tabbs was so beautifully decked out, contemporary with high backed chairs and elegantly laid tables. There are still a lot of people who go out to eat in Cornwall with a certain expectation for the food to be plentiful and low cost, that? fine if the restaurants policy is to buy at the lower end of the produce spectrum and there are plenty of places to go for that. When however the chef is accomplished, passionate and wants you to be bowled over by intensity and purity of flavour and wowed by presentation, the menu is designed to give a balanced and satisfying meal over three courses. Always letting the top quality of the ingredients speak for themselves, this is what Tabbs is all about! Quality over quantity. I was very impressed by lunch here, from the breads made fresh every morning, the exciting starters to the main of rare breed duck and the house speciality- the desserts. They work very hard at the attention to detail and the fact that NOTHING is bought in no not even the petit fours. Truro is achanging and as the more discerning diners hone in, there is a place for Tabbs as there is for Saffron, Chantek, Stingi and others. Bring it on !
