About The Admiral Nelson

The Admiral Nelson at Braunston is the quintessential canalside pub with the building pre-dating the opening of the Grand Union Canal in 1730. The pub sits right next to Lock No. 3 and is a great spot to enjoy excellent food and drink in the most picturesque of settings. The menus offers a wide choice of classic pub fayre - alongside some more exotic options - and food is served at lunch and dinner weekdays and right through the day from 12 noon at weekends. The Admiral Nelson welcome families and it’s a dog-friendly venue with pooches welcome in the bar or dining area. Quiz Night is every Thursday, starting at 9pm.

Food was lovely been here twice now & we were impressed both times, atmosphere was good went on a Monday lunchtime so it was nice & quiet as we like it, service was great & fast food service too, slightly high on the price side of things but I don't mind paying a bit extra for good food & service.

We’ve been coming to this pub for over a year now. The selection of beers is first class and you always get a perfect pint. The food is superb, especially the steak but the best meal of all is the posh roast sharing platter… wow, just wow! Best roast dinner we’ve had. Everyone that works here is lovely and the location next to the lock is wonderful. Best pub ever!

Having bought a Narrowboat recently we came across the Admiral Nelson by chance . Having eaten at canal side pubs for many years of hiring a Narrowboat we feel well equipped to give a rating here. By far the best food. For quality taste and portion size. (Excellent) Service was also incredible considering how many people were eating here. We have now been here 7 times and always consistent service quality and value for money. By far the best pub food we have found.

Another visit for Sunday lunch and again not disappointed. Despite being very busy the staff were friendly, attentive and quick to take our orders. The food was delicious, served in good time and at good price. We certainly will be back in the near future.
