About The Admiral Nelson

The Admiral Nelson at Braunston is the quintessential canalside pub with the building pre-dating the opening of the Grand Union Canal in 1730. The pub sits right next to Lock No. 3 and is a great spot to enjoy excellent food and drink in the most picturesque of settings. The menus offers a wide choice of classic pub fayre - alongside some more exotic options - and food is served at lunch and dinner weekdays and right through the day from 12 noon at weekends. The Admiral Nelson welcome families and it’s a dog-friendly venue with pooches welcome in the bar or dining area. Quiz Night is every Thursday, starting at 9pm.

We came for a family meal on a Sunday evening. There was a great atmosphere, really busy inside and outside and there were plenty of staff to ensure everybody was dealt with speedily. Two of us had steak frites, one had the veggie curry and one had the steak and ale pie. All were delicious and hot, clearly home cooked with a good portion size. We had a few desserts too and everything came really quickly and the staff were very attentive and friendly throughout. Would definitely come again!

What a great find! This lovely old pub was just the ticket to while away the hours with my elderly mum & Dad and enjoy a great meal with friends. Being able to sit and watch the boats coming and going, chat to the people on the tow path all lubricated with a cool drink was just fantastic. The food was great value we thought and all of it was delicious. We didn't have to wait any time. The team serving & behind the bar were friendly & efficient. We can't wait to go back again and I know mum & Dad will be talking about this lovely day out for ages. Thanks to all the team.

We were on holiday (an annual event) for a long weekend, spent 1 afternoon in the garden watching the boats and then Sunday evening for a meal. Great drinks, food and service. A must visit pub.

It’s been a while since we were last at the Nelson. It still has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. The food was excellent and we didn’t have to wait long for it to be served. We both said that we will go more often. It has always been our favourite pub when we were boaters. Thanks guys for giving us a lovely evening on our wedding anniversary

A bit of advice for management - make yourself easier to find. We were a group 4 and we were all pleased with our meal & drinks, normally in a group of 4 someone will have something negative to say, but not this time. Wish we lived closer so we could eat here more often
