About The Aegean Taverna

Recently relocated to Newland Avenue in Hull, the Aegean Taverna is one of the city’s most popular restaurants, a perennial favourite at the top of the city’s TripAdvisor listings. It’s a slice of Greek sunshine with a real taverna feel to it and a buzzy atmosphere with space for close to 100 people. It’s open from 4pm daily, Monday to Saturday, offering diners an extensive choice of home-cooked Greek specialities. You’ll find classics such as Kleftiko, Moussaka, Souvlaki and Kebabs alongside steaks and chops from the charcoal grill, a good choice of fish and seafood dishes, lots of hot and cold appetisers and toothsome desserts like Baklava. Or if you can't decide, just go for the Meze, a selection of starters, fish, meat and salad dishes. Keep your eyes peeled too for the regular live music events here.

Absolutely superb food and service. Frank on service went out of his way to help us choose which dishes to have. Took his recommendation of the lamb shank and it literally fell off the bone. Huge portions and incredibly fresh. Couldn't fault the place. We'll be bringing the family with us next time

We thoroughly enjoyed our lovely lunch at the Aegean on 15/10/26 celebrating my husbands birthday. The food was of high quality, very authentic Greek flavours and generous portions. The waitress and chef very pleasant and friendly. The restaurant was very quiet unfortunately (only us in!) due to hull fair week but we didn’t mind that. We really enjoyed a pleasant lunchtime meal and hope we get chance to return x

Our first visit to the AegeanTaverna when on a brief visit to Hull. Welcoming staff and atmosphere, good service. We chose the moussaka and green salad, wished we'd had time to try the starters - all our favourites. Generous portions at fair prices for current times. Hope we have chance of a future visit. Dined 3/10/26 We where looking forward to our meal all day and boy o boy you guys are amazing. We had the meat platter with a side of goats cheese parcels and some extra halloumi, everything was exceptional, the flavors, presentation and the staff where all amazing. Definitely returning to try the meze on another day. 5 stars all round

I'm sure the service charge was probably visible somewhere on your menu but the fact that we discussed a tip with the waiter both leaving money on the table and asking if he would receive an addition to the bill and nothing was explained is totally unsatisfactory in any business. What a shame after enjoying our meal

We book for an afternoon lunch , greeted by the staff , drinks were ordered and starts , the main meals were order at the same time , staff explained what each item was and proceed with order . The starts came , very tasty and large amounts , for us ,then the main s , absolute delicious , lamb was so tender and the sea food , will go again

Had an anniversary meal on Saturday and couldn’t fault it at all, we have been quite a few times and always return, the staff are great as well.
