About The Barn Garden Centre Cafe

The Barn Garden Centre Café at Stanway, west of Colchester, is open every day for breakfast and lunch serving a café/bistro-style menu. It’s a light and airy space and there’s also al fresco dining on the terrace, which is partially covered. The menus are regularly updated and sit alongside daily seasonal specials. Traditional breakfasts and luxuries including Smoked Salmon and Eggs Benedict. On-trend lunches and lighter bites include Buddha Bowls, House Salads and favourites such as Fish & Chips. All food is locally sourced and cooked fresh to order. Bakery lines and cakes are made in-house daily and desserts vary from homemade Lemon Meringue Pie to warm Bakewell Tart. The Barn Garden Centre Café is fully licensed too and offers a range of beers, wines and spirits.

Booked lunch with a friend. As always, was excellent. Friendly welcoming staff, who were as attentive as ever, polite and professional, and food that was fresh, tasty and nicely presented. Lovely table outside but under canopy so not too hot. Delicious Buddha bowl and quiche was amazing.

My mum and I came for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. We are glad we did. The cafe was cool and refreshing on a hot summers day. The staff were attentive, kind and polite. The food was amazing, the quiche will definitely have me visiting again soon. Altogether a brilliant job.

My friend and I went for lunch yesterday and ordered the quiche with potato salad and mixed leaves. The quiche was the best one I’ve ever had, the pastry was as light as a feather and the spinach and feta cheese filling delicious! My friend hadn’t been to the Barn before and was so impressed with the quality of not only the food, but the wonderful staff, who were, as one, so helpful, polite, friendly and engaging .

Had a lovely brunch yesterday. The kitchen was able to cater for individual needs and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, and were able to sit and chat happily for almost 2 hours. Very helpful and pleasant serving staff. This is my and my friends’ go -to meeting place!

This is our favourite garden centre and blessed to have the best restaurant cafe in the area. Needing gluten free options this place excells at it. The buddha bowl is my favourite and my husband had hake and mussels which was more fine dining than casual and exceptionally good value for money.

Despite the shop being airless and extremely hot, the restaurant was fairly cool. Despite having a reservation and not being too crowded, service was slow. On this occasion food was not as good as on other occasions, but all places can have an off day. Will visit again, but not in a hurry.

I love visiting the Barn Garden Centre Cafe for a special occasion to coffee and cake. From start to finish the staff are attentive the food is excellent and you can choose from the garden area, the inside (air conditioned), or if you want a quiet place there is a lovely area near all the beautiful indoor plants and accessories. I would advise booking as it is always busy. Very easy to book online.
