About The Barn Garden Centre Cafe

The Barn Garden Centre Café at Stanway, west of Colchester, is open every day for breakfast and lunch serving a café/bistro-style menu. It’s a light and airy space and there’s also al fresco dining on the terrace, which is partially covered. The menus are regularly updated and sit alongside daily seasonal specials. Traditional breakfasts and luxuries including Smoked Salmon and Eggs Benedict. On-trend lunches and lighter bites include Buddha Bowls, House Salads and favourites such as Fish & Chips. All food is locally sourced and cooked fresh to order. Bakery lines and cakes are made in-house daily and desserts vary from homemade Lemon Meringue Pie to warm Bakewell Tart. The Barn Garden Centre Café is fully licensed too and offers a range of beers, wines and spirits.

Visited for a Birthday Lunch, with three of us having the Quiche, we all agreed it was absolutely delicious the BEST we have ever tasted. Our fourth lady had the delicious fish and chips. The lady who served up was lovely.

I have used the Barn many times for a gathering of 10+ ladies, so understand the ropes for booking large parties. This time, it was very disappointing. The table was not prepared for us and nor was the food preparation despite forwarding the choices several days prior to our booking. The food as usual was delicious and the service was reasonable.

Had breakfast this morning . I had the small breakfast , it was a bit cold Bacon was hard , and poached egg a little undercooked . A bit disappointing . Service was very good . Staff as always friendly and welcoming . Nice to see them wearing some sort of uniform, hence the Aprons .

Highly recommend a visit, a lovely garden centre and the Barn Garden Cafe is really lovely. The staff look after you and the food is really good. We had lunch, pulled pork with rosemary fries which was delicious. After a little break we tried some cake highly recommend the coffee and walnut! Definitely be going back.

We had a breakfast with friends yesterday, it is always a pleasant occasion at The Barn Cafe. This time the food was very tasty, but it was served warm, not hot so by the time we finished, it was cold. As were the coffees we were served. My pot of tea was thankfully hot. We should have advised one of the members of staff but to be honest, they were so busy. They didn't even come to our table to check if everything was ok

We have been coming to The Barn for many years . We have noticed recently the service is not as good as it used to be . Longer wait to be seated and slow service once seated . We had Sunday lunch . My wife’s fish was fine . I had the beef , and this was very tough . We were going to have dessert , but everything had gone ! We will be back but a shake up is necessary .

Book a table for our daughter’s birthday breakfast. She loves the pancakes only to find the menu had changed! We unfortunately had to leave, nothing else on the menu she would eat for breakfast. I personally only ever ordered the pancakes also, we now won’t return again as a family to eat here which is a real shame because we liked the garden centre also. My advice is, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!! Reading recent reviews, I can see most customers are unhappy with the changes.

We visited The Barn on a recommendation. We sat outside undercover at a nice table . The menu is not large but the food we chose was very nice and freshly made. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Would recommend.

Very nice lunch, the quiche was delicious and one of the nicest I've had - my only comment is you could maybe have one more vegetarian dish, on two choices
