About The Bear Inn

Dating back to 1766, the Grade II-listed Bear Inn is a delightful Cotswolds country pub in the picturesque village of Bisley, near Stroud. The original stone building is complemented by the cosy interior with low ceilings, exposed wooden beams and open fires. There’s a quaint main bar, a restaurant area, a pretty beer garden and a car park over the road. Food is served from 12 noon onwards from Wednesday to Sunday. The Bear Inn also has two letting rooms if you fancy making the most of this beautiful part of the world with an overnight stay.

Best Sunday roast in the Cotswolds, it’s great value, great quality and plentiful, we’ve had it 3 times and it’s consistently brilliant. Love this pub, really friendly, great food.

Absolutely brilliant and great value. We ate from the Winter lunch menu and our only disappointment was that the food was so good and plentiful that we had no room for pudding! The Cheese Souffle was rich and cheesy and meltingly good, and my husband absolutely loved the Mushroom Pappadelle. This was a return visit and we will be back again. Service was prompt, efficient and very friendly and the pub itself is a small, classic and very old Cotswold country pub. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

when three of us came for lunch the usual team was not present on friday 22 march. Sean at the bar was somewhat overwhelmend by the customers and it took a long time to order our lunch. the table d'hote menu is quite restricted in choice but very good value. the chicken kiev is overpriced and i think it contains not a chicken breast but a 'reconstituted' piece of chicken. the mash accompaniment was good but the vegetables consisted of a few bits of salad. we shall return but would hope for a better experience.

Excellent evening from start to finish. Booking online really helped. Very easy to do with an instant response and an email on the day reminding us and if any changes were needed. We were greeted straight by friendly and smiling staff and given a choice of tables. We all choose a different starter which were excellent. The main course was yummy. I took the fish pie. My wife the fish and chips and our friend the pie of the week. We will definitely be eating there again on our next visit to Bisley.

Fantastic Mothers Days Sunday dinner, in fact my second Sunday Lunch at the Bear in a row, it's that good. Would highly recommend the Bear at Bisley, very well organised, ready to seat you, menu and drinks arrive quickly. But the quality of food and taste is superb. Please visit this well run pub and help to make the business thrive in these difficult hospitality times. Many thanks Rich Powis.

We prebooked and 4 of us came for Sunday lunch. The food was lovely (only thing I would have added was more veg as it didn’t come with a lot). Really smashing country pub and the staff were so friendly too.
