We were looking to stay somewhere in Doncaster and after looking on Late Rooms we found this pub. The review said that this was in the village of Thorne, which it is, but Thorne is not your classic English village, more of a small town than the country village we were expecting (surrounded by countryside etc.not shops and houses) The pictures also do it a lot more credit than it perhaps deserves but if you are not too concerned with the surroundings and are looking for a warm welcome, then it more than supplies your needs. We initially rejected the Belmont because of the soft beds and the room sizes (too soft and too small; we are quite fussy) but as we couldnâ€™t find anywhere else at that time of night (20:30) we returned. We were still welcomed with a warm smile despite previously leaving to find somewhere more suitable. The room was basic but ok considering the low price but ours, unfortunately, did not have a working window (we couldnâ€™t shut it) and the trouser press wasnâ€™t functioning for some reason. After settling into our room we made our way downstairs to order drinks and a meal. The wine was reasonably priced and the food menu looked good. I ordered the haddock and my other half ordered the slow roasted salmon with crayfish risotto. They were both very nice and for afters we ordered a lemon tart to share and the waitress kindly arranged for us to have both ice cream and cream to keep us both happy. Unfortunately, I was quite ill during the night and the only things that I had all day, that the other half didnâ€™t, was the haddock and the cream on the pudding. We did inform them in the morning and they said that there was another party that had the haddock but we didnâ€™t find out if they had been affected by this. The room, as we said, was small and the bathroom carpet needed replacing or a very good clean but there was a bath mat. The toilet seat was loose and also required replacing as the brass hinges where corroded with you know what! There was also nowhere to put any of your bathroom stuff other than on the toilet cistern; a shelf would have been very useful. Our roomâ€™s bathroom adjoined the next roomâ€™s bathroom and the sound proofing was none existent, so we could hear the next roomâ€™s occupants taking a shower etc.! The one thing we will say is that the hospitality was EXCELLENT and we couldnâ€™t have been any happier with the welcome and service.

What a find!! So glad we gave this place a chance, the tapas was excellent and great value. We will be back and I hope they're ready for us because we're bringing as many friends as we can muster!! A must try!!

Had a great tapas evening at the belmont over the jubilee weekend.Food was great drinks well cheap and service second to none. Will most certainly be coming back as this is just what the village needs, the decor is first rate along with the venue, new owners/management must be loving it, we certainly are.
