Very disappointed, booking excepted even though The Carriage had been shut since January, think that says it all

Booked a table for Saturday brunch. Walked 8k to get there to find it was closed for refurbishment. Website said it was open and was able to book a table. Was not happy

Lovely setting and not rushed to finish the meal. However we were not informed prior to ordering our food and drinks that chicken or chocolate which covered at least three dishes and drinks. We then had to make alternative decisions.

Food ok for breakfast but the door desperately needs sorting out, it doesn't close properly so every time someone goes in or out it stays open 6inches until someone physically closes it. Took my nan for brunch and didn't stay long as she was freezing as its winter. Would have stayed longer, had more coffees etc but it was just too cold.

Have been here several times for breakfast and dinner, always had a great meal! Yummy food, good service, nice hot drinks and cocktails. Would recommend and I'm sure I'll be back in the future!

I don’t know why I have been sent an email for feedback as I did not get a chance to dine here. I booked a table for lunch on my friend’s birthday 2 weeks earlier only to receive a call the morning of the booking date to inform me that they would not be open at 5pm as they are closing earlier. I was so upset as it was far too
late to secure a booking at a place of choice on a Sunday. The person who is spoke to just kept telling me that I could come a bit earlier even though I had stated twice that my friend was having a booked experience so could not make an earlier time. I was even told that the website did not update itself so that was the problem. Surely someone should have checked! It ruined the day so I was I’ll not be dining at Carriage because if this is the way they treat customers I would rather go elsewhere!

Sadly, after reading all the excellent reviews, I personally was disappointed. We arrived at 12.30 for lunch, chose our food and drinks then waited for 45 minutes due to our order getting lost. I had ordered the sea bass and when it arrived it looked like a 'smoked mackerel', I had to taste it to make sure. It was rather over cooked and dry. I did point this out to our waitress and she did apologise.
I will probably not return.

Had a lovely meal with friends. Cocktails were great and the food delicious. Big shout out to our waitress Frankie who looked after us so well. We will be back and looking forward to the new menu at the end of October.

Lovely prawn and cheese mac / fish mixed grill. Service was fab and so cosy in a cold autumnal night!
