About The Carriers Inn

Overlooking Hatchmere Lake – and with an award-winning beer garden to make the most of it – The Carriers Inn is a hidden gem in Cheshire’s Delamere Forest. It has a history stretching back at least 300 years to when it was a welcome break for waggoners headed to Frodsham Port. Then as now, it’s the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxing drink or a tasty meal. The pub has a large conservatory to make the most of the lakeside views as well as the large beer garden by the water (no bookings are taken for outside dining; it’s first-come, first-served outside). The menu includes a large range to suit all tastes including Pub classics, great grills, and a range of burgers, snacks and decadent desserts. Go Ape in Delamere Forest is just two minutes’ away by car and Liverpool, Chester and Runcorn are all less than a half-hour drive. Dogs are welcome too in all parts of the pub.

Myself, hubby and brother had lunch at The Carriers yesterday, it was a horrendous day, the weather was appalling. However, the pub was toasty warm and welcoming. I had Lasagna, my favourite, it came with salad, garlic bread and chips, which is unusual to have them all, often its extra, but it was delicious, piping hot, hubby had Hunters Chicken and my brother had the Haddock fishcakes, all the food was amazing. The staff were lovely, a credit to the management, so helpful and friendly. The road works with the diversion must be affecting their trade, but I strongly urge you to go, follow the signs, we're local so no worries for us, but its so worth it. A lovely meal in beautiful surroundings, what more can you ask for. Also there's a very generous discount due to the diversion. We'll definitely be having lunch out again, soon.

We wanted to support the pub through road closure , 50% was fantastic but a shame it was empty and no atmosphere . Staff were lovely and food was OK . Pub is looking shabby both inside and out which is a real shame .

First time visit yesterday and me and my partner both said, it was one of the nicest roasts, we've had and we eat out alot! The roast potatoes were lovely and crispy, just like my Nan used to make and the meat was so tender, which mostly lets alot of places down on there roast dinners, our meats were lamb, beef and gammon, for reference.

We booked the Carriers because it was close to our campsite. We both opted for the Sunday Roast and it was absolutely delicious. Plenty of meat, vegetables, roast and mashed potatoes. It was perfect. And it's also dog friendly, so we will be returning next time we're in the area.
