Situated at the edge of the Ribble Valley at the top of Padiham, the Cellar Restaurant is reputedly the town’s oldest building dating back to 1650 when it was known as The Old Black Bull. The building is literally steeped in history with mullion windows, stone walls and fireplaces, wooden beams and a beautiful arched and vaulted stone ceiling in the main dining area, reminiscent of a beer or wine cellar. Andrew and Vicky Foster have been at the helm here since 1992 and along with their experienced kitchen and front-of-house team deliver a memorable dining experience. Menu staples include Creamy garlic mushrooms and their Special Fillet Steak filled with either blue cheese or chef’s chicken liver pate wrapped in bacon and served with a rich Madeira sauce. There’s an extensive wine and drinks list too and a separate bar area. Regular special events include tapas nights and psychic nights and for private functions there is an upstairs room with its own bar and toilets which can seat up to 50.
