About The Chequers Inn

Situated on the ancient maritime pathway on the edge of Lymington Salt Marsh and Nature Reserve, The Chequers Inn is traditional English pub dating back to the 16th century. The pathway offers wonderful views out over the Solent to the Isle of Wight and the pub is a popular stopover for hikers, dog walkers and families. Food is served at lunch and dinner during the week and right through from 12 noon at weekends with plenty of choice between the main menu and specials board. You can sit inside or out, under the covered courtyard and marquee and in the garden itself when weather permits. Live sports are regularly shown in the courtyard and with its own bar area it doubles up as a function area for up to 30 people.

Had booked a table, unfortunately our friend's had come down with virus, so we went on own. On arriving where shown to our table which was very cosy, right by the log burner which was blazing away. Our orders where taken promptly, 1 roast Pork and 1 sirloin rib of beef both very generous portions, we didn't have to ask for horseradish or apple sauce, which was a nice touch, obviously our waitress had been trained properly. Only critism was the roast potatoes, too many and just parboiled and then cooked for to short a time, so just didn't have that lovely crispy taste which a roast potatoes should have. I don't think I have been to a pub in years where the chef can cook them properly. Other than that a lovely meal, with lovely service. Will definately visit again.

Went for Sunday lunch with family. Fabulous roasts and really cosy winter environment. Lovely service. Ideal Sunday lunch.

Popped in for Sunday Lunch and to watch some Rugby. The Roast Beef main was superb, excellent veggies too. One of our party had the veggie option (Stilton and Mushroom Puff Pastry Wellington with a White Wine and Mushroom Sauce) and it went down well. Always a good buzz at the Chequers and the Sunday lunch added to the treat. Great value for money. Thanks to all the staff. Really prompt service.

My favourite in the area, I am a local in my 30’s and I’ve been to every pub worth going to and there’s no other quite like it. A true classic pub with a friendly local atmosphere. Great food and great drinks. The aesthetic has a lived in charm and a no fuss approach which is truly refreshing in today’s pub culture!
