About The Chequers Inn

Situated on the ancient maritime pathway on the edge of Lymington Salt Marsh and Nature Reserve, The Chequers Inn is traditional English pub dating back to the 16th century. The pathway offers wonderful views out over the Solent to the Isle of Wight and the pub is a popular stopover for hikers, dog walkers and families. Food is served at lunch and dinner during the week and right through from 12 noon at weekends with plenty of choice between the main menu and specials board. You can sit inside or out, under the covered courtyard and marquee and in the garden itself when weather permits. Live sports are regularly shown in the courtyard and with its own bar area it doubles up as a function area for up to 30 people.

Lasagne was really good, proper home made, big portion. Burger - one of the best - & chips freshly cooked - really great. It's a nice down to earth pub with good atmosphere & friendly staff.

Stayed at Hurst View campsite, enjoyed a lovely walk to the Chequers Inn. Warm welcome, efficient, friendly service and delicious food. There was a great atmosphere of a local pub. We had the fish specials, both excellent and shared a delicious apple crumble.

We visited for Sunday lunch and were very pleased with the experience. The pub has plenty of different dining areas, none of which were overcrowded. The service was prompt and the meals (both from the Specials board) were delicious and perfectly cooked. Would thoroughly recommend.

We were in the Lymington area visiting family and needed somewhere to have tea. After looking at various puds in the area we settled on The Chequers Inn - and were we ever glad we did! Walking into the premises we found there are several distinct areas that are really well suited to all sorts of occasions. We chose to sit in the garden and enjoy the sun and quiet of the place. The menu had a LOT of options that we thought sounded great, so choosing what to have was quite traumatic! I chose a starter of coarse pate followed by the plaice special, my wife the pork with apples and calvados, while our son had the 8oz burger and daughter the kids burger. Wow, all of our dishes were fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed them! All of the staff we interacted with were really lovely and we are looking forward to being in the area again so that we can try some of the other fantastic dishes that they serve!

Delicious Sunday roast My husband and I had the sirloin of beef, very generous portions and beautifully cooked, roast potatoes cooked to perfection and plenty of gravy and vegetables. Our friends had the nacos which they really enjoyed. Finished with a caffetire of coffee Which was the nicest coffee I have tasted for a long time. We have had 3 meals there now, and the staff are always helpful and efficient and you never have to wait very long.

Always enjoy having a meal at The Chequers with excellent service, always nice to see Lizzie in the restaurant. Latest trip was yesterday when all three of us had specials and really enjoyed the home cooked food. Great beer as well, I particularly enjoy the Flacks and they really know how to provide a great pint!
