Had a lovely meal here with family who were all impressed with the food. Imagine my surprise to discover that they only have 3 stars on Halton Councils Hygiene "scores on the doors" website. I wonder what the inspectors found to warrant this? - I would have expected the full 5 stars from an establishment like this. Hopefully whatever improvements are needed won't take to long to put in place - then I can go again without the niggling doubt about the hygiene standards.

The coterie is by far one of the best restaurants in the North West. We have returned many times for special occasions and look forward to dining for valentines day again. The atmosphere is warm and cosy, with highly attentive staff who look after your every need from the moment you walk through the door. The food is amazing and of a very high quality and cooked to perfection. Worth every penny and a real treat!

We made our first visit to Le Coterie this evening, although we only live a couple of miles away. it was a mistake to have neglected this place for so long. The whole experience was superb. We were made welcome as soon as we stepped in to the building and the atmosphere was outstanding. staff were attentive, without being 'in your face' and were quite happy to give us all the time we needed to read the extensive menu. While eating, I asked my wife if she could name a place where we had eaten better food over the last 35 years. Neither she nor I could think of anywhere. She remarked that her Sea Bass tasted of the sea and my Rib Eye really did not need the Cracked Pepper Sauce, being full of exquisite flavour and cooked exactly to my preference. This will not be our last visit.

Never thought Id fall in love with a restaurant, but I have with this place !
Such a superb atmosphere (unique to be honest), wonderful service and top notch food.
It really is Widnes' best kept secret although many already know about the place as it is always busy.
The Coterie must be careful not to notch the price up much further though, that 'could' be its only downfall

The Coterie is the best restaurant in Widnes, no the North West. We have been all over the country at top restaurants and the Coterie hits the spot, even pipping Rick Steins seafood restaurant. The very best thing about this though is that its at the bottom of our road, they said there is not a god. One visit and you are hooked. Thanks to David and Christine

We would like to say a big thank you for inviting us back after the Valentine? Day fiasco. We would like to say that this time it was a pleasure, we felt like VIP?. Service was wonderful as was the food we both really enjoyed the evening and made up for Valentine? Day.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, hospitality was superb and the food quite delicious. I try kidneys to start for the first time, and my taste buds really enjoyed the adventure, followed by a melody of fish in a Lemon sauce very nice. My wife had a equally lovely Goats cheese salad followed by a Rib eye, finished with a home made Cheese cake, which she loved.
I know that Valentine? Day is not your normal night at a restaurant, and was very pleased to be invited for dinner on the house, to prove that indeed the praise I had heard about your restaurant was true, and indeed it seems it is. So thank you very much again.

If you ever wanted to dine for a special occasion or simply just to treat the family/other half - this IS THE PLACE! From the best welcome around from the staff, to the totally professional way in which the night progresses, you will not be disappointed. The food is to die for - the place is addictive, booking is essential though even though they have recently expanded. Try the cheese and wine bar for a special afternoon. /evening treats also

I often visit this restaurant and you can? go wrong. The food is always excellent, there is a good selection and no matter what you order it always exceeds expectations. Best restaurant in Widnes by a mile.
Coterie The
This place is an Aladdin? cave of treasures my partner and I stumbled upon late last year - now we can't stay away! The food has been fantastic on every occasion we have visited. The owners offer a very warm welcome and the high standard of service continues for the whole of your visit. The restaurant is immaculate and set out in such a way that the perfect balance between formal and informal has been struck. The Coterie has excellent parking facilities and also a bar area if you fancy a quiet drink in a nice setting rather than a meal. A definite must for anyone on this side of Cheshire looking for a high quality dining experience. P.S. - The Sunday lunches go down a treat too - perfect for a family weekend get together!
