About The Dining Rooms
Located in the pretty market town of Oswestry, The Dinng Rooms is a beautifully renovated town primary school that dates back to 1841. Lovingly restored in the early 1990s, the building now lends itself perfectly to the restaurant and bar it has become. The vaulted ceilings and revealed wooden beams and floors lend the interior space and light. Dining is spread over several rooms which interconnect to the main hall with its huge stone fireplace and a grand piano. An eclectic mix of wooden tables and chairs offer a total of 200 covers, two of the rooms are licensed for civil weddings and there is a holiday cottage on the grounds. Chef patron Geoff Hughes and his kitchen team are passionate about food and the seasonal menus reflect this with a wealth of fine local and free range produce. A fixed price menu offers homemade comfort classics like starters of Bubble & Squeak with free range egg and crispy Pancetta or mains like Venison Cottage Pie and onion gravy. Whereas the A La Carte features more complex dishes, plenty of seafood, game and a strong vegetarian selection. Try mains like rump of Welsh lamb, different cuts and sizes of steak with real chips, Pheasant Stroganoff and fillets of sea bass. You can also choose from a ‘paper blackboard' of daily changing specials. Sunday lunch here is an institution and booking is essential. Open Monday-Saturday 10.20am-Late and Sunday lunch only.Write a Review
