We were met with an unfriendly greeting, and curtly informed that if we sat outside there was no table service. Tables were dirty. Food was distinctly average at excessive prices. We really want to eat local. Please just make tasty food at sensible prices.

We had an absolutely wonderful time visiting this pub for our Sunday meal. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, but the true highlight was the food—it was simply exquisite across the board! Here is what we ordered: Sunday Roast Beef: Cooked to absolute perfection with all the classic trimmings. Rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Classic Burger: Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and served hot. A top-tier pub burger. Kids' Fish and Chips: The children's menu is fantastic quality. My seven-year-old had the fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. It is so refreshing to see a pub put real, high-quality effort into their kids' meals! If you are looking for a place with outstanding food and a great family-friendly vibe, I highly recommend stopping here. We will definitely be back!

Third visit to meet old friends and it did not disappoint. The garden was a very nice spot to sit in. The service is very friendly and the food was very good. We shall all return for our next meeting. I would not hesitate to recommend the Dukes Head.

A lunch visit to an often frequented pub that did not disappoint. Nice to get together with friends who have not got together for a while., to relax ahead of The Great Dunmow Book Festival at the weekend. Great service and delicious food, the sea bass was particularly good. Thanks all until the next time!

Nice pub. helpful in booking to get a table we wanted. Sadly despite being given the menu 3 times, we were not told that half of the menu was unavailable until we were asked to order. If we had been aware of this we would not have stayed for dinner. Although what we did have was fine, it was not the meal we were expecting to have. Very disappointed.

The food, service, ambience is all first class at the Dukes Head. At £70 a head it is pricey but very much worth it. I’d rather it cost more and walk away fed and happy than pay less and feel disappointed with the food. I highly recommend you pay them a visit and enjoy what’s on offer.
