About The Elephant Crossing

The Elephant Crossing is a brand new Mexican bar and restaurant in the heart of Ironbridge serving delicious tapas-style dishes and cocktails. The name comes from a famous local event in 1932 when an elephant marched across the Ironbridge to promote Chapman’s Zoo-Circus. Expect an outstanding selection of drinks including show-stopping cocktails and a tasty selection of tequilas with Mexican street-style food prepared by Chef Martin Lewry who has returned to the UK after five years as Head Chef at the Harbour Club in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote.

It was so nice to eat in a restaurant where the whole menu is gluten free. We shared 3 small plates and 3 tacos: All of which were delicious and of different spice levels. There was an extensive cocktail list and we enjoyed our spicy margaritas. The waitress was friendly and attentive, adding to our enjoyment of the evening. If we lived closer we would become regular customers and will certainly be back

We booked via Groupon and had a great time! We loved the food, very flavourful and good choice. Pudding's were especially good and the waitress made some great recommendations. We enjoyed a cocktail or two as well which were really nice, particularly the passion fruit martini. All in all a lovely evening

We previously really enjoyed our food here. Im not sure if the menu has changed much in the last year, but on this occasion the small plates menu felt a bit uninspiring. So we ordered tacos, but our black bean tacos were far too salty - initially we tried to eat them but ended up having to leave some. We mentioned to staff who said this was not intentional, they apologised, tasted the dish themselves and agreed it wasn’t right and gave us a partial discount on the bill.

Having been previously I was quite disappointed in the new menu, previous choice and dishes themselves were amazing, now it’s just ok. Soft tacos were not nice at all, very dry and included mashed potato as a filling which I found an odd choice. Its such a shame as we used to love it!

Disappointed in this visit. Having had a wonderful experience previously we took some friends and had a not so great experience. Unengaged staff who didn't know the menu, cause they 'don't normally work there', seating that has fixings missing so were dangerous to sit on, wobbly tables, freezing cold and wet side plates provided for 'hot food ' and some very overcooked and dry food.

An incredible margarita and a brilliant deal. We really enjoyed the ambience, great service, and food - and will definitely be back.

Fabulous place. Food is amazing and served fresh. Service is superb, friendly but not invasive but always ready to take your order. We will back!

Booked in advance with no trouble. Sat downstairs which is cute. I would however check tables etc as a wobbly table is super annoying. Staff were lovely and took our order timely and drinks and food arrived quickly. The food was okay, value for money and plenty to eat but just okay. I do love this little place though. I would return as the location and the place itself is cute.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Elephant Crossing last night. The food was exceptional and the service was fantastic. The waiter is a credit to you she was very polite and kind. Didn’t get her name but she had been there since it opened. Thank you
