About The Embankment
A mock-Tudor pub with rooms, The Embankment overlooks the boathouses on the Great Ouse in Bedford. It's part of Peach Pubs, an award-winning independent group of gastropubs. The Embankment was built in 1891 and has been refurbished in a style that reflects its late-Victorian heyday but with modern facilities and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There are 20 ensuite bedrooms, some with fab views over the river and all with flat-screen TV, iPod adapter, hairdryer and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Food is served every day at The Embankment from breakfast at 8.30am right through until 10pm in the evening. Head Chef Neil Simons has worked in restaurants in both the UK and France and has created a menu that blends traditional pub classics with more adventurous fare. There is always a Roast of the Day and a Roast meat roll of the day and produce such as free-range chicken and dry-aged Aberdeenshire steak are sourced from ethical suppliers.
