Hi, we attended the restaurant on Sunday 3rd May, the ambience is lovely and the service is excellent. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our Sunday roast quite as much, the pork was too well done to the point that you hardly cut it as it was so hard. Some of us found the roast potatoes too hard again to cut, we also found that there were too many conflicting flavours on our plate, the carrots was glazed and the cabbage had some sort of like a vinaigrette, we ordered a portion of cauliflower cheese and this had no taste but also a lot of unidentifiable black bits in it. We were quite disappointed as we have had Sunday lunch before and really enjoyed it, it was a bit of a disappointment to be honest.

visited with a party of 3 for a Sunday meal, table booked for 1pm and at 2pm had been told that need table back in 10 minutes, this was not communicated to as at all in any way, very disappointing. We wanted to stay and have another drink and told can go to bar area, unfortunately only table that was left had been a high table and chairs that my 83 year old mum couldn’t sit at! Poor management of tables and very disappointed of this, outcomes will no longer come back to the establishment due to poor service and lack of managing bookings! Not impressed

The Florence serves one of the very best Sunday lunches you can get anywhere. We visit every couple of months and it's consistently superb. The atmosphere is always really good - with great music which doesn't drown out conversation. The people are friendly. The service we received yesterday wasn't as discrete as usual. It felt a bit abrupt although it was friendly.

Went for a Sunday Lunch, the staff were vey friendly and welcoming. The roasts we had were excellent, with good portions of everything and tasty. I would definitely book again for a roast. I'm looking forward to see what their weekday menu is like.

I am a big fan of Maya and sadly the roasts did not live up to our expectations. The plates were cold and the only things that warmed up the meals were the extra portions of cauliflower cheese (which were piping hot) and the jug of extra gravy we requested. The wafer-thin slices of beef didn’t have much flavour and the roast potatoes tasted as though they had been reheated a number of times. Still searching for a really good roast in Southsea.

The staff at The Florence are so welcoming and great people. They are so accommodating and even let me order one roast to take away so I could give to my wife after her shift. The food is top notch and the service is quality. A wonderful pub in a wonderful part of Southsea. Will always come back for a pint and a roast!

Read that The Florence was good and was not disappointed. Would agree that this probably is the best Sunday Lunch in Portsmouth & Southsea. The food and its presentation was excellent, all clearly cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients and with generous portion sizes. My Yorkshire-born husband was even impressed by the huge, but light and delicious Yorkshire Puddings. The service was friendly and efficient; the décor and ambience was gorgeous and everywhere (including the loos) was super clean, fresh and lovely. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.
