Stirling’s family-owned and family-run Golden Lion Hotel has been welcoming guests through its handsome stone entrance for more than 200 years, with royalty and Rabbie Burns amongst them. Set in the heart of Stirling city centre, it boasts 67 rooms, including the new Stirling Castle Apartments, as well as Cronies Restaurant and adjacent Bar. Succulent local beef, lamb and Scottish seafood are among the signature dishes on an imaginative menu, which caters for all special dietary requirements. A varied menu for children is always available along with their unique Scottish Tapas which is not to be missed. Interesting incident whilst having dinner 30/3/26. The meal was lovely and the restaurant was quiet (luckily). The background music was "old people blend" Manilow, Neil Diamond etc, suddenly there was a generational shift and a "rap" artist gave his modern slant. I cannot give a full rendition but suffice to say the use of the "F and N" combination was liberally shouted to enhance our dining experience. It was different.

Was at the Golden Lion for a meal with my friend. The food was excellent and the waitress who served us was very friendly and helpful. I liked listening to the piano in the background and the price was good too. Will definitely be back.

Couldn’t fault the food , piano player very good but a little loud , staff were very friendly, although service was quite slow, when asked for the bill they brought someone else’s, then on our bill extra juices were added that we didn’t have . We did enjoy our evening and will return again.

We arrived at 6.30pm. It wasn't that busy for a Friday night. Right away I was concerned as they are still using their Festive menu!! It's changed since I was last year and there was a piano player in the centre of the room. He was very good. My only negative is that he played 'louder' when a group of 8 ladies came into the restaurant. This meant it became rather noisy and we had to speak louder to hear ourselves. 3 (of the 6) had starters. These were cleared away however we then waited over an hour for our main course. While waiting a waiter did approach us and ask if we'd had our starters! He then returned 5 minutes later with main courses but they weren't ours. They were fir the table next to us who still had their starter plates on the table. I observed the save waiter wandering around with other starters and again trying to serve to a wrong table. I'm giving Cronies Restaurant 3 stars because the food was nice once it finally arrived. But the service was very poor. It wasn't that busy so I'm unsure why the chef took so long to make our main courses.

Poor experience.The dining room is incredibly dark &depressing. We waited over half an hour for some very average food.

Food amazing Staff went out of their way to make us welcome. Please pass on our thanks to the bar staff and restaurant. Value for money and a good choice of food . A huge improvement 0n our last visit
