Stirling’s family-owned and family-run Golden Lion Hotel has been welcoming guests through its handsome stone entrance for more than 200 years, with royalty and Rabbie Burns amongst them. Set in the heart of Stirling city centre, it boasts 67 rooms, including the new Stirling Castle Apartments, as well as Cronies Restaurant and adjacent Bar. Succulent local beef, lamb and Scottish seafood are among the signature dishes on an imaginative menu, which caters for all special dietary requirements. A varied menu for children is always available along with their unique Scottish Tapas which is not to be missed. The hotel is a fantastic base to explore the highlands and lochs and visit more local attractions such as the Wallace monument, Stirling Castle, the Robert The Bruce Monument and Stirling Safari Park.

My family and I had a most enjoyable Sunday lunch, a wee birthday celebration. The choice on the menu was excellent, staff friendly and accommodating and most importantly the food was delicious.

Excellent meal. The plate was full with plenty of meat and vegetables. The pie melted in the mouth- absolutely delicious. A reasonable price too. The dessert followed and was good too. The attention from the waiting staff was good as well. All in all a pleasant experience.

We had a lovely evening at Cronies Restaurant within The Golden Lion Hotel. The food and service were both excellent and the atmosphere was perfect. It was made extra special with having the pianist there playing beautiful songs to accompany our meal. I would highly recommend it.

We had lunch as usual my cousin had the steak pie which was cold I had the macaroni which was olso cold and clumped together and tasted bland the chips were olso just warm this is the second time this had happened we did tell the waitress who must have told another lady who took our drinks price of the bill they really need to up their game or we won’t b going back

Meal was fine. Nice scampi and chips, very plentiful..however, no nice welcoming smile from a waitress who looked very unhappy, and I felt stuck at a dark table in the (empty) dining room! Sorry, but not happy with the ambience within the Golden Lion which is a place I always loved. What has happened to training standards and the reputation of a fine establishment?? Disappointed.
