Lovely lunch at the Greyhound!
Tom Cook
This pub is definitely worth a visit. I contacted the bar via e-mail as we were spending a few days in the Lancaster area. The reply was prompt and courteous. When we arrived at the pub the next week our table was reserved for us and the food was wonderful. Perfect pub meals: hot, fresh and plentiful. The service was great and we were so full after a starter and a main course that we couldn't look at the great range of desserts. We'll be back.

The food at The Greyhound is absolutely delicious! We visited on a Sunday (no roast but we didn't go for that anyway). I had the homemade chicken and mushroom pie which was the best I have ever tasted and my husband had the cheese and onion pie - again delicious. My 4 year old also enjoyed his fresh mini fish and chips. It was great to see a childs menu with all fresh food - no chicken nuggets in sight! Only wish we lived nearer - I'd be there every day for a meal!

After eating at the highly acclaimed Lancaster house hotel for lunch with friends, I stumbled across the greyhound hotel in Halton. The food was far superior and obviously more carefully prepared at the latter. If anyone lives anywhere near this treasure of a local pub,I strongly recommend that they sample the simple but perfectly executed menu. Home-made burgers are sheer perfection!

After searching for a place to eat in the area, I stumbled across the excellent website and it looked like the place for me. The place was friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. I ordered the jumbo haddock and chips and wow it was enormous, barely fitting on the plate, and the chips were awesome - nice and chunky. Overall I had a great meal in a beautiful location

Have you ever wondered what happened to those wonderful country pubs with little intimate rooms and roaring fires. Never despair the Greyhound Halton has retained this ambience You can enjoy a wonderful meal for two in peaceful solitude or have a room for a family celebration and yet still be part of the wonderful crack at the bar.

I have eaten at The Greyhound on a number of occasions and can safely say it is the best pub food I have ever had! This is much more than you would expect to get in a pub and extremely good value for money. The menu is very varied and caters for everyone and nothing disappoints! (especially not the homemade fish and chips!) The service is fast and friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere.

It is now the third occasion in the past three months that my wife and I have dined at the Greyhound. Consistency in the pleasant efficiency of the service is surpassed only by the excellent quality of the food. For my part, I am one of the most difficult persons to please, particularly in respect of 'Fish Dishes' and I would suggest that it would be a difficult challenge to meet in finding better anywhere in the Lune Valley.

I can't recommend the Greyhound at Halton enough. It has a lovely welcoming atmosphere and the food is delicious. They use only the best local produce and you can really tell by the quality of their food. Try the fish and chips with the Greyhound's own beer batter and homemade chunky chips. Brilliant!
