About The Hopping Hare

The Hopping Hare is a privately owned two-AA-rosette restaurant with 20 luxurious en-suite bedrooms. It’s situated just two miles from Northampton town centre and close to the Althorp Estate, which provides much of the game on the menu in season. Executive Chef Karl Penny (ex-Waddesdon Estate in Aylesbury) delivers a Modern English menu which offers excellent-quality food at great-value prices. Where possible, produce is sourced from local suppliers and these are proudly name-checked on their website. The stylish bar has intimate corners and fireside sofas and the contemporary dining room is cleverly zoned to accommodate couples and groups. The Hopping Hare is a great choice for a celebration too with the popular Conservatory available for exclusive use for larger parties.

Their 14 people in our party to celebrate my husbands birthday. We requested if possible could we sit in the conservatory and they honoured our request. The service was excellent so was the food, atmosphere and value for money. We would recommend the Hopping Hare to friends and family.

David, Sarah & staff what can I say, it’s not the first and won’t be the last I visit, but on Saturday you excelled in making my 60th birthday celebration something to remember. Everyone loved the food. Birthday cake amazing (thanks Sarah) and service brilliant. You looked after my folks booking them the accessible room making their stay comfortable. We enjoyed the garden until the end of the night. Had a blast. Will be back in July. Thanks again!

We had a very positive experience in the restaurant. My husband wanted a dish on the tasting menu but not the main menu but it was not a problem to the chef. We’ve been before and will come again even though it’s a couple of hundred miles away from home. We visit relatives in Dustin and stay at the Hopping Hare. Staff really excellent.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and really tasty - cauliflower cheese that actually tasted of cheese and not just warm milk, was a bonus! Service was very good too. All in all, a really good experience. We will be back! Thank you!
