About The Hopping Hare

The Hopping Hare is a privately owned two-AA-rosette restaurant with 20 luxurious en-suite bedrooms. It’s situated just two miles from Northampton town centre and close to the Althorp Estate, which provides much of the game on the menu in season. Executive Chef Karl Penny (ex-Waddesdon Estate in Aylesbury) delivers a Modern English menu which offers excellent-quality food at great-value prices. Where possible, produce is sourced from local suppliers and these are proudly name-checked on their website. The stylish bar has intimate corners and fireside sofas and the contemporary dining room is cleverly zoned to accommodate couples and groups. The Hopping Hare is a great choice for a celebration too with the popular Conservatory available for exclusive use for larger parties.

This was our first time at the Hopping Hare but enjoyed the whole experience. Staff were very welcoming and polite. The Sunday roasts (chicken, pork belly and beef) which came with a variety of vegetables was delicious. Highly recommend this friendly and inviting restaurant.

We love this place. It’s our got to venue for special nights out just me and the Wife. Staff are super polite and helpful, service is always 10/10 and the food is sublime. Had a meal here Sunday 26th as it was our ten year anniversary. Booked online with a special note requesting if possible for them to supply a surprise bunch of flowers on the table for when we arrived.(Obviously at a cost to me). They didn’t disappoint. They understood what was needed and sorted it without question. We will keep returning again and again. 100% recommend

Sunday lunch, great atmosphere and attentive staff. We weren’t rushed to make choices and our share option for starters accommodated without fuss. Great roasts and accompaniments.

We came for a meal with friends on a Saturday. The staff were friendly and Service was Extremely good. Food was very good. We all enjoyed our meals. My only criticism would be the bar area. It seemed very clinical. For me it needs lightening up. Maybe some floral displays and on the tables.
