Just been for a lovely Sunday lunch at the Keys, for us the service and meal and drinks were perfect. However the table we were sat next to were without a doubt down right rude and horrible to the poor waitress and manageress, and also refused to pay the large bill at the end of the meal. They had ordered the most expensive drinks they could, the whole resteraunt thought these people however wealthy, are scum and should be ashamed of themselves, they had no intention of paying for their meal.

Went for a 59th birthday meal. There were 19 of us in total and we gave our order to them 2 week in advance. OH DEAR!! It didn't bode well when the waitress only had us down for 18..then it got worse!!! Here are the highlights
wrong food coming out (chicken sizzler and not beef)
8oz sirloin being tried to look like a 16oz and waitress saying it was 16oz!!
1 member of the party STILL not got her meal now...the day after!!!
Only 2 bowls of chips between 9
Then..the landlords gobby wife saying to the person who didn't get a meal after she said it was a shambles "SHUT UP MISS KNOW IT ALL" WOw now thats customer service for you!!!
When the landlord came he was rude to saying " ill run my pub like i want to run it" you mean into the ground pal???
Then a table near us with 9 people in the party were complaining as their meals were wrong too (passing rump steak off as ribeye!!) then 'gobby' was yelling at them from the bar to "shut up and eat your meals"
I have been here before and the food is nice (if and when you get it) but ill never ever step foot in there again. Or in his other pub ' The Shambles' in Barnsley
Rude management isn't what is needed and i wont go there but will go to the Hare and Hounds from now in.....Oh. And friends of ours got the same treatment on a works christmas meal!!
Seems OAP meals can be done but not if theres more than 6 people

We went for Christmas Dinner this year and can truly say that it MADE our Christmas. In all my life (58 years) I have NEVER had Christmas lunch out but I needn't have worried.
The meal was wonderful and exceeded our expectations.
Not only was there an excellent choice of dishes and excellent quality of food, but portions were a good size and several courses, coffee and mince pies and even crackers to pull really made it a special occasion. Thank you all at the Cross Keys.

We used this pub once before on a trip to Barnsley. It quickly catered for a coach load of us without any fuss, the landlord Glen & his staff were very welcoming & efficient, the food was wholesome & good value & quickly served, I would not hesitate to recommend this pub to anyone

We visited on Friday evening, and the place was very full. Waiting time was about ?our, but we were informed of that even before we had ordered, and the staff kept us fully informed at all times. Presentation and quality was outstanding. Price was very reasonable, and to be honest, for the quality, and for the service, they could really do with having a slight increase. My partner and I had the Combo for two followed by a Homemade Game Pie served with Fresh Vegetables, (and I mean fresh because they were most obvious not the frozen variety) my partner chose the Sirloin Steak. Unfortunately for me, I could not finish my meal due to the sheer size of the pie, however, when the waiter cleared the table, he did inform me that it contained almost 1lb of meat under the herb crust. My partners steak was cooked to absolute perfection. it was asked to be cooked well done with no blood following the knife. When it was cut into, it was a beautiful tender pink, and the chef is to be congratulated on the way that it was prepared. After resting for about ?our, I was able to sample a Raspberry Ripple Cheesecake, but decided to share this as we were both quite full. Overall, with a bottle of wine and 2 or 3 halves of Carling Lager, the total bill came to less than £40. A great evening out, with excellent food. I will certainly be visiting again, and would heartily recommend the place to anyone. To the landlord and his staff thank you and well done. Whilst ever the quality of your food and service is this good, you are guaranteed of my custom.
