We booked to celebrate a wedding anniversary and previously co texted the last inn to inform then of two vegan and one also gluten free - however there was only one meal on the menu that was both vegan and gluten free ! We arrived to what was apparently clear - shirt staff and stressed staff who didn’t have the time to greet customers when they arrived other than to say quite abruptly “ be with you in minute” it was 8 minutes before we got to place the drink order at the bar . Then showed to our table but drinks didn’t arrive due 10 minutes - each drink firmly ‘banged down on the table ‘ we ordered food and made it very clear that the vegan gluten free dish must be exactly that and waitress assured us it would be . Three meals arrived after 35 minutes but not the vegan gluten free one ! We asked after 5 minutes where it was because we couldn’t wait any longer as food getting cold. We were told the chef didn’t do gluten free pasta in original dish so was making g it again - when it arrived ( after asking ) we had all eaten out meals ! It arrived and the pasta was not cooked ! It was sent back and 20 minutes later we received the meal which was as ordered and cooked - however she then ate alone as we we were all finished ages ago - so awkward especially as it was a wedding anniversary and the couple didn’t even eat together - so embarrassing as they were our guests and we recomended the Last Inn ! The waitress came past the table and said “taken the pasta off the bill “ well that was the very least they could do after three attempts to serve a meal . Extremely disappointed- staff were stressed and had attitude which was not the atmosphere or customer service we hoped for . The singer that was on that night was very good but very loud which made it very difficult to talk or be heard Sadly left feeling very sad that our guests experienced that service on their anniversary

This was our first visit. We thought we'd give it a try for one of our regular nights out. We had prebooked a table but on arrival had to wait for it to be ready. Not too long so not really an issue but given we were expected & there were empty tables would have expected it to have been ready. The service overall was quite poor. The server started to reel off the menu options before we had sat down so most of us missed what was said. Our drinks arrived quickly enough & when we ordered we were told a large order had been placed so we'd have to wait a little while for our food. Happy with that. The rest of the service though was poor. We had to wait ages for our empty plates to be cleared. We gave up waiting for the dessert menus & fetched them ourselves. We then had to chase them to take our dessert order. The server was unable to describe what the desserts were like when asked. Then we had to chas3 again for the bill. The food was excellent & we all enjoyed what we had. There weren't enough staff for the number of customers & this sadly impacted on what was a good night. Unless the service improves we are unlikely to return which is a great shame as the food really was good.

Overall our meals were good. The kebabs were tasty and another in our party ordered fish and chips and the fish was huge. The chips looked hand cut but they were a bit hard. A pint of shandy costs the same as a pint of lager. It was quiet but it was a Wednesday evening. I will try it again in the future

The staff were pleasant on our recent visit, however, for a Friday night there was practically no atmosphere and was deathly quiet. As a family of five, not one of us enjoyed it completely. The fried food (fish &onion rings ) couldn’t have been cooked at the right temperature as they were so anaemic and sodden with oil there was no crunch whatsoever ever on the batter and wasn’t really edible. TAKE THE RISOTTO OFF THE MENU what a massive disappointment. The description on the menu is that of a bounty of fresh green veg on what sounded like a flavoursome hearty risotto- which is was the complete opposite, about 5 peas, 3 slices of asparagus stem that were the size of 5 pence pieces, no spinach to my knowledge that I could find and the Risotto was an over cheesed, stodgy, bland porridge. Paying an extra £8 for the fish finger sized piece of Salmon topped it off as the worst meal I’d had. Don’t think we’ll be going back any time soon especially as the bill worked out at about £25 a head, We’ve had 100% better quality dishes in the heart of London for less!!!!

Extremely disappointed. Out with family and when mail meal came, my husband had ordered fillet steak. It didn’t look like a fillet steak and was tail end that had been butterflied. On speaking to the waitress to say we weren’t happy with the standard of the steak. she took the meal back only to bring it back with information from the chef to say it had been butterflied to enable it it cook quicker! !! My husband asked for another as it did not look good and due to cost £29, he wanted what he ordered and cooked in they was expected. The message from the chef was that would take 20 minutes of which, we felt he said because he wasn’t happy with having it sent back. We payed for our started and drinks and left. Then had an outstanding meal at the Fox. The front of house staff were lovely and the manager appeared to understand why we weren’t happy. We won’t be back!

Went for Sunday lunch at short notice so was very glad to get a table. I had the Sunday lunch which was great, my only criticism was that i would of preferred a little more green veg to go with the roasted parsnip and carrots and cauliflower cheese. However my wife was attracted to the pea, broad bean and asparagus risotto. This was to risotto that the loaf in the film “about a boy” is to bread. ( it killed the duck!) it was a tasteless glutinous cow pat that had no resemblance to a risotto. I know they are difficult to cook , so if that’s as good as it gets, take it off the menu and stick to things that the chef can do well ( like the Sunday lunch band other meals we have had there.) The staff removed ot off the bill which was great however but I would have preferred to pay and have a good meal for both of us.

Oh boy, where do I begin. This place is terribly understaffed which is so unfortunate as the food was really good. After booking a table and arriving at that time we were asked to wait by the door so they could get the table ready. About 10 mins later we were seated. Then a waitress never came back to us to take drinks or food orders, after about another 20 mins we had to go and find someone to take our order. The pub was filled with very loud people too which made the atmosphere not so nice. The table next to us actually moved to the front area as they couldn’t cope with the noise being caused by others. I know this isn’t something that could be helped but added to our negative experience. We then made our order and unfortunately the pigs in blankets were out of stock which was a shame as they are really nice. We all ordered and then our drinks took forever to be brought to us. Again we had to catch a waitress to ask for them. Then the drinks came and were lovely, we then did the long wait for the food. Once the food arrived someone ordered the pork which stated it came with crackling which it did not. After we had to yet again flag down a waitress to ask for sauces and this wasn’t asked to us when the food was brought to our table. We finished the meal and to be honest the food was really lovely. After the food was brought through no waitress even came near us for over an hour. We then had to go and ask at the bar for our bill. It’s a real shame as the food is lovely but it really needs the service to be sorted out for me to ever go back again or recommend to anyone else.

Me and my partner went here for a celebratory meal as we just got engaged. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and felt well looked after. We understand their were some issues with the ticket machine in the kitchen causing some order delays, however we were informed of this and this wasn't an issue as we could enjoy the evening. The only reason for the 3 out of 5 for the atmosphere, was the table of 5 wild Karen's sat behind us, who didn't realise that the earth revolves around the sun and not them. They also were having the same issues as everyone due to the ticket machine problem, however the staff dealt with this incredibly, and have far more patience than I would have had with this situation. Would definitely recommend, just check the place out for Karen's before sitting down.

We have been regular visitors to the Last over many years and it has always been inconsistent. Typically it’s good for a while, and then standards slip and we give it a miss until we hear things have improved. We are tempted back mainly because it is within walking distance for us. Six months ago, we were telling everyone how good the food was, especially the Sunday roast. Unfortunately, since then it has deteriorated to the point where we won’t be going again. Last Sunday we both had the beef and it was tough. Half the vegetables were warm, the other half were almost cold. I had had a similar experience earlier in the week when mine and my friend's vegetable kebabs were delivered almost cold, without the garlic mayonnaise, and with ordinary fries instead of the sweet potato fries as described on the menu. Our enjoyment of our Sunday roast was not just marred by the food. Half way through our meal live music struck up. This is not something I would expect on a Sunday lunchtime. Inevitably noise levels rose as people had to talk louder to communicate. And then there were the dogs….We heard one barking in the large dining room at the back. We saw one sitting on the seating. And another huge dog was led passed us brushing against my husband twice. I thought dogs were only allowed in the bar area but this has obviously changed. They should not be allowed in a restaurant and definitely not sitting where the next diner could be sitting. All in all an experience not to be repeated.
