Back at its brilliant best, Paul Heathcote's team are back on form after a slight dip I am sure he would acknowledge. A special offer drew me back and it is a joy again. Look at the website, and go back. It's not as expensive as you imagine.

Nestled in the stunning countryside and visceral hill of what was once believed to be the local hostelry of the local quarrymen of the ribble valley this uniquely located restaurant comes with a reputation that often warrants long journeys. The facade to the restaurant is inviting yet surprising. The intimacy of the dining room is pleasant and decor is predictable.

Heathcotes !! a name synonymous with fine dining in Lancashire for the past 20 years. Nestled in a stunning location in a venue that was reputably frequented by the local quarrymen of the Ribble Valley my excitement in visiting this notable restaurant was marked. Entering the location I was suitably impressed although the intimacy of the bar area is testing, Once seated in the restaurant the legend of the restaurant tickles the buds of anticipation. On our visit the service was shabby the starter excellent, the main course disparate and cluttered across three of the 8 dishes on the main course menu. Heston would be impressed by the use of 'stardust' on the petit fours yet overall this notable venue lacks the 'crackle on the tongue' that you would expect from such an allegedly respected restaurant. Having left the premises replete with contradictions and doubt the restaurants Paul Heathcote bus stop awaited. Dick Winner

I took my mum and step dad to for a meal to celebrate my mums birthday, we had an amazing time the restaurant is lovely and the deco of the restaurant is warm and cosy and the food was out of this world, the service of the staff was fantastic and will be going back again and will recommend this to all me friends and family.

We ate here earlier this month. All the food was excellent and service very attentive. Our starters of black pudding with duck egg and gravadlax were brilliant, though I would have liked much more of the salmon! Of our main courses, I can particularly recommend the venison with Jerusalem artichokes, rosti and beetroot. For pudding we had a chocolate tart and a pear charlotte - both brilliant. Somewhere for a special occasion.

Been recently refurbished-very tasteful. Had an excellent meal here with my wife. Beautiful ham terrine /wood pigeon for starters followed by pork belly/rump of lamb. Fabulous desserts and great service. well worth a visit

Yes i too heard it is up for sale, such a shame, we were regulars at Wrightington and followed Adam & chef to Longridge where we have again had three or four fabulous meals since November. We will have to keep in touch and follow to next destination!

Agree with the last comment went on Friday night and it was outstanding, the food, service, decor & ambience were quality. We were made to feel as though we were royalty with nothing being too much effort, a refreshing change. My girlfriends birthday was greeted with a birthday chocolate plate which put me in the good books. Am gutted the restaurant is for sale but hope morale doesn't drop and you finish with a bang! Top marks!

You can't say anything against this restaurant. The food was absolutely superb. We went on friends recommendations (which usually leads to disappointment) and I can't thank them enough. The Black pudding starter was beautiful and my wild mushroom risotto cooked to perfection. The staff were excellent, attentive but not intrusive. If you go to only one restaurant this year make sure it is The Longridge. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Visited Longridge on Saturday evening following many recommendations from friends and colleagues. We had a fantastic time! The food, ambience & service were perfect, could not fault at all! It is a refreshing change in the area to find a restaurant where you are given a truly genuine service, no frills, no pretence just good honest hospitality - to this the food is second in my opinion - great time will certainly recommend
