We had our works Christmas party here on Friday the 12th December, and had a great overall experience. Myself and a couple of others also booked a room to stay the night, which made the evening even more enjoyable and stress free. We arrived around 2pm on the Friday and were greeted by the day time manager, who was absolutely lovely. She was very attentive, asked how we'd like the tables set up, and took care of arranging wine for the tables as well as setting up a tab behind the bar, which was a great touch and helped the event run smoothly. The food was lovely and everyone enjoyed their meals, although there was a bit of a wait between courses. Unfortunately we did not receive our welcome drink, which was meant to be prosecco or mimosas, and there were also no mince pies to finish the meal as expected. These were small disappointments but worth mentioning. We reserved the VIP area, which was fantastic and gave us our space to enjoy the night. The highlight of the evening was definitely the band, Domino Sugar, they were amazing and kept everyone entertained all night, creating a brilliant atmosphere. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Christmas party with great service, food and entertainment, and we'd happily return again in the future.

Booked in for bottomless brunch and opted for the gorge menu at £54 so we could have the individual cocktails. Service was really slow had to ask numerous times if someone could take our drinks order, barman not very attentive. Time was getting on and I asked if we could order some more drinks and the barman said he will be back in a min to take the order and to clear some of the empty glasses the barman never came back just seemed to be faffing about around the bar so me and a friend went up to the bar and asked if we could order some more drinks as by this time I think our time had run out, i asked why he never came back to the table when he said he’d be over and he said he was too busy! Anyways he did let us order another round so that was good but it wasn’t our fault the time was over and that he was busy. There needed to be more staff on one barman is just not enough to have to deal with numerous bottomless brunch bookings and also have to deal with walk ins aswel on a sat afternoon in dec! Also the barman spilt over a tray full of drinks partially covering my friends coat which was on the back of her chair accidents happen I understand that but there didn’t seem to be any sort of apology. These sort of bookings get booked in advance things need to be prepped more for a better experience.

Food was nice and prices are decent. The pub has a lovely ambience. Unfortunately the service was quite poor. Waitress was very moody sadly and while she wasn’t openly rude she wasn’t very proactive in asking if we need things etc and gave the impression she wasn’t happy to help. This is very unusual for the malthouse as I’ve been many times before and had great service each time

My husband and I went for Sunday lunch at the Malthouse with two other adults and a toddling baby. We had a lovely meal, we polished off a Sunday roast, burger and two veggie dishes, plus cauliflower cheese which the little one lapped up. The restaurant area was quiet when we went, but it seemed like there is lots of space. The staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The meals were good value, with generous portions and good ingredients. The restaurant is close to the historic bridge and museums and must be an even nicer spot in summer and autumn, with a wood on the other side of the river. No parking at the restaurant, but a museum car park is nearby.

I’ve been here quite a few times over the last year or so and always really enjoy the food and atmosphere. The only downside in the past has been the slow and sometimes inattentive service. That said, on my most recent visit this Saturday, I did notice a big improvement! The service still isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely heading in the right direction. Lovely place overall, great food, great vibe, and a fantastic location.

Really nice meal on Friday evening, service was attentive and good, only downside was the lack of soft furnishings which made the area we were sitting very noisy, with sound bouncing around. Understand this is the current interior decor fashion but it did detract from a really good evening and caused us to leave earlier than we would have done to find a quiter place for an after dinner drink.

Sunday lunch was excellent. Wonderful tender meat and perfectly cooked vegetables and tasty gravy. All servered hot. Service was very good . Manager Ash was very attentive to our requirements . We had a lovely time.

Celebrated a birthday this week at the Malthouse adults and a very active 3yr old!. Food and service was excellent, wish I had asked the waitress's name to give her a shout out. Will be going back again.
