About The Master Builder

The Master Builder is a traditional village pub at the heart of the community in West End, on the eastern fringes of Southampton. You can expect home-cooked food, real ales, an open fire and an equally warm welcome. There’s also a small beer garden too. Lunch is served every day, including their popular Sunday Carvery, and the restaurant is open evenings from Tuesday to Saturday with a choice of freshly prepared pub classics alongside daily chef's specials. There’s plenty of space for larger groups here and private event bookings are welcome too. The pub has pool and darts, weekly Bike Nights and Quiz Nights and often has live music at weekends.

My two friends and I visited The Master Builder for a late lunch. We were warmly welcomed and delighted to see they had a small plates choice on the menu. The food was hot, delicious and amply satisfied our appetites it was good value for money. They kindly allowed us to eat a birthday cake to celebrate a friends birthday providing plates ect. The service was friendly and made us feel right at home. We will be back. Highly recommended.

My son and I booked a table for lunch on Monday. We had a window seat which we asked for. We received a friendly welcome and were given menu's and shown through to the restaurant. My son had a cappuccino and I had a bottle of fat coke. We ordered at the bar, he ordered the Master burger and I had the gammon. The menu offered good pub classics and we took a while to decide. Drinks were brought over. The food arrived after about 15 mins. Good size portions and hot. We both enjoyed what we had. My son ordered the same drinks and we sat in the garden as it was a lovely afternoon and noone out there. All in all we had a relaxed few hours and we would definitely recommend The Master Builder and will go back again.

A lovely looking pub, extremely clean and well maintained. We came to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The menu had a great choice and so lovely to see a smaller portion section, I chose the lasagne and it was still a good size portion section. Friends had the turkey and gammon pies. Awesome choices of puddings and we all had one and a good price for mains and puds. Toilets were clean and well stocked. I will definitely be going back again, plenty of space and would be perfect if you wanted a place to meet for larger gatherings. Staff were friendly and approachable.
