About The Moon Highgate

The Moon Highgate in Kendal is home to expertly prepared modern British cuisine that changes with the seasons. It’s owned and run by husband-and-wife team Leon and Helen Whitehead and is open Thursday to Saturday evenings and for Sunday Lunch. Head Chef Leon travelled and worked in Africa, Spain and France before settling in the south Lakes where he was most recently Executive Chef at the Merewood Country House Hotel. His menus changes with seasons and are firmly based on the best local produce blending classical techniques with the latest culinary innovations.

We stopped in Kendal for one night and ate at the New Moon. Their early evening menu has a very good choice of dishes and is excellent value for money. We will definitely go back when we next go to the lakes.

Great,cosy restaurant with tasty lunches and dinners. Frequently changing menus and attention to detail, with an interesting wine list. Try the house red, a really good merlot . Friendly service, nothing too much trouble.
