About The Old Bank
The Old Bank City Pub and Chop House is housed in a Georgian Grade II-listed building in Carlisle city centre. The décor adds a modern twist to this fine old bank building which is open all day Wednesday to Sunday for coffee, brunch and lunch and in the evenings Thursday to Saturday for a dinner menu aimed squarely at meat lovers, although there are vegetarian options. Award-winning Chef patron Matt Rayson’s menus focus on modern British pub classics featuring signature starters like Black Pudding Scotch Egg with Sneck Lifter Ale & Apple Chutney, Bramley Apple Puree, Pickled Apple and a HP Dressing and mains such as Slow Cooked Beef Brisket with Carrots, Onion Puree, Crispy Onions, Sage and Onion Dumpling and a Treacle and Beef Gravy. There’s plenty of choice and dishes change monthly. The Old Bank has a separate raised area that can seat small parties of up to 17 people and runs regular events such as gin tastings and live music nights.
