About The Owl

The Owl is a cosy and characterful pub in the heart of Epping Forest, near Waltham Abbey, with open fires and wood panelling. It has a large bar and dining area, a private function room and an extensive garden area with covered outdoor tables, benches, a BBQ section and a children’s play area. Four-legged friends are welcome too. The traditional British menu is freshly prepared and food is served right through from 12 noon to 8pm Monday to Saturday with a traditional roast on Sundays. The Owl has a wide range of lagers, cask ales, ciders and craft beers on draught and an extensive wine, gin and spirit list.

Can’t blame atmosphere on The Owl because we went early midweek this being a celebration. The food was served quickly and very tasty. It far exceeded our expectations.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with the family including my 96 year old Mum (we often have lunch here during the week). Lovely ambiance. Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. The staff found out the lunch was in part to celebrate my daughter’s birthday (who is 31 and has special needs) the following day so unprompted brought her dessert with a candle in it and sang happy birthday to her. A special place.

I don’t write reviews often but The Owl needs one!…a great place to eat! Food was cooked to perfection and was so fresh! We didn’t wait long once we ordered. The quality of food was exceptional! Beautiful big soft pieces on the pizza we ordered! Even the salad was so nice, mixed leaves and great dressing! Staff friendly and plates cleared away from our table in good time. Highly recommend and we will be back again! Play area for our child was a bonus! Thank you

Menu was quite limited in choice but food was very good. One comment is that the falafel sandwich was very dry and could have done with some hummus or sauce.

Wonderful view out onto a Gorgeous piece of Countryside close to Pavs through the forest. The Bar staff were absolutely lovely two ladies made you feel so welcome Very Helpful very friendly nice atmosphere especially for a relaxing evening.
