About Pheasant Inn

The Pheasant Inn is situated on Crosthwaite Road in Keswick and is hard to miss as you access the town from the A66 roundabout. This traditional Lakeland pub dates back to the 18th century and serves hearty, home-cooked food every day at lunch and dinner. Popular favourites include their Fish Pie and Steak Pie as well as a selection of Speciality Dishes along with Daily Specials. An extensive allergen information folder is available for each dish. The pub has a welcoming feel with a real log fire in winter and 22 outside tables with parasols for the warmer months. Drinks are served all day, every day right through from 12 noon until 11pm and the Pheasant has a good selection of well-kept real ales and wines. Dogs are welcome here too.

Usually book in at The Pheasant when in the Lakes, and it’s never let me down yet. Cosy atmosphere, good beer (Jennings), gr8 food and quick (not rushed) service. And the venison bourguinon with a dumpling is awesome!

Excellent meal as always at the Pheasant - quite busy for a Tuesday night so need to book ahead

Mixed review. We had a Sunday lunch which overall was nice, it tastes good, but you only got one slice of meat, which we thought was very tight given it cost £21! We had to ask for the creamy leeks, as this was not brought out. Nor did we have parsnip. We had to ask for this also. We thought it was massively overpriced and to charge £16 for a kids Sunday lunch is robbery! The service was hit and miss. Took them 45 minutes from arrival to take our order… also tight measures with hot water for a cup of tea. No teapot. Hot water and tea bag straight into a cup. Although by the time you take the teabag out you’re left with half a cup of tea. Did ask for more hot water which they did provide. Like I said food did taste nice, but not for the price.

The BEST roast I’ve had that’s not been cooked by my mum. I’ve been coming to the Lake District on holiday for years and never fail come and visit to have something to eat or drink. If anyone asks where to go in the lakes I always tell them a must try is the food at the pheasant inn. Homely and traditional British food, cooked fantastically. Just what you want after a day walking on the fells. Staff are always so warm and accommodating, and walking distance if you’re staying in Keswick. Looking forward to booking my table for my next trip!

It was ok. Unfortunately not many beers on hand to choose. Service was OK but nothing above or beyond to say, food was fine. If perfectly honest the whole experience was not as good as previous years, just something missing. I suggest you start with your front of house engagement.

First time visiting on a Monday evening, the food, service and atmosphere were great. Enjoyed it so much we booked our second visit on the Wednesday.

We made two bookings. One for Sunday lunch, which was superb. The second for the following Friday evening. The food then was also very good. The service was attentive and friendly. We would certainly recomend and would intend to book again next time we are up there.
