The Plough Inn on Spa Lane in Lathom, east of Ormskirk, is a 19th-century country pub combining rustic warmth with local character. You can expect hearty and traditional pub fare at lunch and dinner every day with the Sunday Carvery a particular draw (it’s available for takeaway too). As well as the cosy interior with open fires, there’s garden seating and a family friendly kids’ play area plus regular Quiz Nights.

Went for a meal at lunchtime for a friend's birthday. Food was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for us, so friendly. We will be back.

Nice staff food was ok but only warm carvery . Was very expensive and 10% tip added to bill was bit really happy but agreed to pay . Carvery £16 for adults was too expensive won’t go again

We had the carvery and can honestly say it was phenomenal, one of the best roasts we have had and you can add extra meet for a small surcharge. Well worth the price and highly recommended!!!

Fantastic hot food lovely people working who couldn't do enough to help. Met the chef who advised what was and wasn't gluten free made me fresh gluten free alternatives to what was offered. Will definitely be back again . Thank you

Staff were lovely, couldn’t fault them. We all had carvery and the meat was very nice. However we were very disappointed to get frozen roast potatoes. Come on guys, surely we can peel some spuds. Would have liked a choice of more vegetables also. Overall it was ok but would expect better for the price.

Lovely home feel, busy but doesn't feel it with the way it's set up. Food was good and hot. Staff are very friendly.

Food was excellent and we really enjoyed it (Sunday Roast). A few things we picked up on during our visit: -Table behind us got offered extra meat and pigs in blankets, which we didn’t and definitely would’ve said yes to! -The waitress came and cleared my plate away from me before my partner had finished eating. I personally don’t like this and think it is a little rude. -They add a 10% voluntary service charge on, bearing in mind we visited for a self serve carvery. Then ask in front of other customers if you want to remove it, which I felt makes it awkward to say yes.

Had family over from Holland we had a table of eight. Service was fine. But we only had one drink each. Food was good. But the whole place needs a repaint it’s so tired and old. From the tape holding the carpet down at the door to grubby paintwork. And service charge was already added to the bill. Totally disagree with this. We have no problem paying it but it should be at our discretion not to be asked in front of other customers at the bar if we wanted it taking off.
