About The Plough and Barn at Leigh

The Plough Inn is a traditional Kentish hop hung pub with barn and extensive country pub garden, both of which are licensed for civil wedding ceremonies. Originally a row of 16th century cottages, still evident with four front doors and inglenook fireplaces, The Plough has a long history of being a pub. Both the pub and barn are peg tiled, beamed and beautifully appointed and this is a popular wedding venue (note that the pub is closed during such times, so please book your visit to the pub in advance). Menu dishes are seasonal and home cooked, all about good, substantial well-balanced and tasty food which suits the pub and its heritage as well as introducing a modern flair to some dishes. Snacks, pub classics, daily specials, open sandwiches, children’s favourites, pre-ordered afternoon tea and evening meals are all to be found. There are veggie and plant-based alternatives and dietary requirements are catered for (mention these at time of booking your table). Fine ales from Kent’s micro-breweries are on tap to complement a full pub bar and the well-crated wine list is also features the local Chapel Down vineyard.

We love the Plough, and have done so for years. Set in an idyllic rustic setting, we love sitting in the back garden, watching the kids playing on the swing set, or the dogs frolicking across the lawns. Service is always friendly and helpful. We have consistently excellent meals there, and the beverage selection and quality are highly satisfactory. Periodic events such as Pub Quiz are a fun way to gather and enjoy a screen-free night of interaction with our friends and neighbors. We love the Plough, and suspect you will too.

Fantastic service from the time I stepped in. I was accommodated for straight away , lady moved me to a nicer table without even asking and was attentive pre my friend arriving and for the rest of the time with both of us. Sunday Roast beef lunch was very tasty and plentiful. First time I had been here and I will return Thanks guys

Another Sunday visit and again the roast was excellent. Cannot fault the quality of our roast lamb with fresh root vegetables and greens. Thoroughly enjoyable with good attentive service.

I really enjoyed our visit to The Plough for Sunday lunch. The building is beautiful and well cared for, the service was excellent and the food delicious. I cannot praise this venue enough. It will be a regular joy for our family to dine here

Booked for two nights in a row and as we expected the food was delicious. Have eaten here several times before and the staff was amazing. Thank you Darren and Meghan! You were great as ever. We'll definitely come back to The Plough... it's an amazing old inn, with great food and a wonderful staff. Meghan and Darren: bring our regards to Angela as well... unfortunately there was only little time for a chat.

Sunday lunch at the end of the heatwave, service good as ever and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, food not as good as normal. Our main courses were below average. I had the chicken and bacon salad with peas and broad beans. So many peas, chicken dry and salad tasteless. It was really difficult to eat, so I ate the chicken and bacon and left most of the rest. Such a shame last time I went I had a lentil stew and that was delicious. My husband’s vegetarian burger was something he definitely would order again. Our friends meals were a big average too. On a brighter note the tiramisu was very nice a lot better than I had recently in Italy. Very sad as the food is normally very good.

We visited the plough for an early Father’s Day lunch. There was 10 adults and 4 children. The weather was beautiful so we sat in the garden. The staff were friendly, and the food delicious. The children played happily on the climbing equipment. Look forward to visiting again soon

Not our first visit to the Plough and Barn and won't be our last! We meet friends there for lunch from time to time as it's halfway between where we each live. We also have happy memories from a fabulous day a few years ago when our daughter chose P&B as the venue for her wedding. Lovely food and excellent friendly service as always.
