About The Poachers Inn

Formed from half a dozen terraced stone cottages, the Poachers Inn sits at the foot of Blaze Hill on the outskirts of Bollington and just a hundred yards from the Peak District National Park boundary. In summer it’s a blaze of colour, adorned with hanging baskets and window boxes, and you can make the most of the sunshine in the secluded yet spacious beer garden. And winter has its own attractions too with a roaring log fire to welcome guests, including walkers from the nearby Gritstone Trail and Middlewood Way. The Poachers has plenty of space for both diners and drinkers and is the perfect community pub with regular live music events and a quiz night.

We went to this lovely pub while on a weekend away and the staff were so lovely and welcoming, especially of our dog. He even had some left over beef bits in a bowl. Unfortunately his meal was better than ours. We both ordered the lamb hotpot which was basically a bowl of gravy with a bit of carrot in and some very thin slices of potato on top. On the side was some very grey looking cabbage. I had one piece of lamb in mine, my husband was lucky enough to have three small chunks. Very poor value for money at £16.95. We did make our server aware who as an apology offered us ONE free desert. It was a kind gesture but unfortunately one free dessert between the two of us didn’t make up for the poor meal we had had. It’s a shame because the pub is great and the staff lovely and friendly but definitely need to work on the food. Vegetables and potatoes aren’t expensive so there is no excuse for these to be lacking in a meal. We were considering having our Sunday lunch here the next day until we had this experience so it’s a shame this has put off returning customers.

I’m part of a group of retired work colleagues who meet up for lunch every couple of months. 1st time we’d tried this pub but it was lovely. Atmosphere was great and the food excellent we felt really good value for money compared to some places we’ve been. We will definitely return

I walk with a group that lunches at The Poachers every Wednesday arriving at noon. Numbers vary, yesterday ( 29/10/25) there were 9. I pre-order meals for the group from the 'Lunch - Two Courses Only £14' menu. We have a very good relationship with the staff. Yesterday everything was fine. Pub got reasonably busy after we arrived.

First visit to The Poachers Inn. We were very impressed! The food was fabulous - we had the Sunday roast and loved the meat and the sides of veg. The quality of the cooking and produce couldn't be faulted. The lovely lady who served us was very friendly, ultra professional and efficient. We will be back. Thank you

Excellent Sunday lunch at The Poachers Inn. The meal was excellent, great choice of beers. Staff were great, friendly and chatty. We were a party of nine and we had the food at the same time. Great pub. Definitely coming again, as we are moving to Bollington next month.

We had a Saturday night meal, x4 adults. The food was good but not exceptional. Lovely bar area, warm and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff.

The Poachers is a lovely traditional pub offering a wide selection of beers and other brews. Good choice of food from the menu just a bit disappointed that gammon was not on it. So I had the fried chicken with gunpowder potatoes. A fiery meal indeed! One whinge was the table was still sticky from previous diners
