Christmas lunch for 22 of us. Great service and good food. All at the Poachers worked hard. Well done !

Christmas Lunch Party for 21 of us. Great service and good food. Enjoyed by everyone. We had the full Christmas Menu and everyone was happy with the choices available and food provided. Good choice of beers to help with the festive feel. The staff and chef worked hard to deliver to us and another group over the lunchtime period. It was a great venue for a group party. The main courses could have been slightly hotter, but due to our party size we recognise the challenge to serve everyone at the same time.

The service was excellent...not polished but attentive. Overall the food was well presented, timely and was good although my liver was woefully over cooked so was dry and tough. Our party of 6 all enjoyed lunch and found the food to be reasonably priced
What spoilt the event was the eye-watering cost of the wine!! £28 for a average merlot that had to be sat by the fire until it warmed through, really??? You are a pub that serves good honest pub food, not a gastro pub!

We booked at The Poachers Inn for my mum's 60th meal before we went for a Spa day. The staff were so lovely & couldn't do enough for us, from calling to see if there was a specific place we wanted to checking everything was ok as we had a celiac in the group. The atmosphere & food was amazing & we really enjoyed everything in such a warm & welcoming place.

We are a walking group who chose this year to have our Christmas walk followed by lunch at the Poachers
The staff were a delight to work with from our first enquiry
They devised a tempting menu of main courses for us to circulate to members. The result was that 34 of us had a self serve meal on 8th December
The unanimous verdict was delicious food with plenty to eat and served by fantastic staff who couldn’t do enough for us and great value
Many thanks for a wonderful lunch- I think we will be back next year

We went to this lovely pub while on a weekend away and the staff were so lovely and welcoming, especially of our dog. He even had some left over beef bits in a bowl.
Unfortunately his meal was better than ours. We both ordered the lamb hotpot which was basically a bowl of gravy with a bit of carrot in and some very thin slices of potato on top. On the side was some very grey looking cabbage. I had one piece of lamb in mine, my husband was lucky enough to have three small chunks. Very poor value for money at £16.95. We did make our server aware who as an apology offered us ONE free desert. It was a kind gesture but unfortunately one free dessert between the two of us didn’t make up for the poor meal we had had. It’s a shame because the pub is great and the staff lovely and friendly but definitely need to work on the food. Vegetables and potatoes aren’t expensive so there is no excuse for these to be lacking in a meal. We were considering having our Sunday lunch here the next day until we had this experience so it’s a shame this has put off returning customers.
