About The Prince George

Recently upgraded and given a new lease of life by the team behind The Royal Oak on Watford Heath, The Prince George in Watford is a traditional pub with a South African twist. It’s a real family affair with Dad and Head Chef Mark running the kitchen and Mum Sandra along with children Matt and Bianca handling front of house. You can dine inside or out and their home-cooked meals use the best locally sourced ingredients. Expect their take on a traditional British menu infused with a taste of South Africa - the chicken wings are legendary. Food is served from 4pm Tuesday to Thursday and from 12 noon Friday to Sunday.

Another great meal at the Prince George. Fantastic starters of Bang Bang Cauliflower and Halloumi Fries and then the Durban Lamb Curry and Halloumi Burger. Friendly staff and good choice of drinks.

Enjoyed an excellent Sunday Roast. Short Rib of Beef cooked to perfection, fell off the Bones, covered in delicious rich Gravy. Loads of Veg ,Fluffy roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire Puddings. Honestly cannot fault it apart from the fact I couldn't finish it, ha. Highly recommended, definitely going back.

My friend and I don't often get to meet, so I picked The Prince George as it was halfway between where we both live. I am Coeliac, so catering for me can be a bit of a pain, but they were brilliant, and the Durban Lamb Curry was so good. My friend eats Halal too and was over the moon to find out the lamb was Halal. We had such a lovely time; the food was fabulous. It was such a friendly atmosphere, and the owners were so kind to us both. Thank you for making our meet up a really good one.

I booked Sunday lunch with friends on 19/04/2026. We got in on time seen to with in 10mins. When the food came it was served hot and enjoyed by every one with empty plates at the end, we are looking forward to going again. Its what a local pub should be. Thank you to All the Staff .
