We went for a family celebration lunch on Saturday. Unfortunately the chef was not there and they apologised it was an unexpected family issue. There were a few meals that they could not offer. We chose from the remaining meals. It was very quiet there as they were turning people away due to their lack of a chef. The waitress was great and seemed to be doing a lot of things on her own so service was slow, which was not a problem for us. The food when it arrived varied, the chicken burgers were ok and so was the steak pie. although no salad or veg came with them I had Glamorgan sausage which came with mash rather than the dauphinois potato , a very small amount of sauce and no veg apart from a very small amount tiny chopped up carrots. The sundaes we ordered for desert were fine. I understand these were difficult circumstances for the pub and I was pleased to hear them calling their evening bookings to give them an option of cancelling, unfortunately our experience there was not great.

Booked on spur of moment thursday afternoon for 2.we had garlic mushrooms and calimari for starters, and both had belly pork as a main. All food was stunning.but next time don't think we will have a starter as was really filling. All really tasty beautifully cooked and beautiful flavours. Stunning food as usual .first time to have food in the afternoon.highly recommend.had a few sunday lunches the share platters.would give 12 out of 10 as best sunday lunch we have ever had beautiful taste.plenty of meat and veg and gravy, and service outstanding and quick.best place we have been for a long time .advise everyone who can to try

The reason for visiting was because the sharing roast had been recommended. Initially we were disappointed as this was not available but this was short lived. It was the best roast we have ever had.

Stayed at the caravan park over the weekend and had two evening meals - Gammon was tremendous and tasty - chicken burger was the best one I’ve ever had and as for the Sunday Lunch sharing platter - DO IT - absolutely delicious but leave plenty of room as there’s lots of it -,took a doggy bag of the leftovers for the dog!!! Really great food and great service too. Highly recommended
