About The Shed Bar & Kitchen

Imagine the inside of a shed with ladders on the walls, tools and lots of rustic artefacts. Add in a wooden slatted ceiling, an industrial ventilation system, wooden floors and scaffold planks on the wall and you’ve got The Shed Bar and Kitchen at May Bank in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This unique casual dining and drinking venue offers freshly prepared home-cooked food – small plates, big bites and breakfast dishes at the weekend. There’s great array of drinks with ten draught beers, ciders and lagers alongside wines, spirits and cocktails. In summer, bi-fold doors open out to create a real Mediterranean feel and there’s also wooden bench seating out front with a rustic shelter to one side.

We had booked a table for 5.45pm to dine after a trip to the theatre. We arrived bought our first drinks, we sat down then were told the menu had been reduced to four items for the rest of the evening, non of which were suitable. If we had known we would not of booked. We finished our drinks and left. If we had of been told on arrival we would not of stayed for a drink as we had some way to travel home. The place itself had a nice atmosphere and the full menu looked really nice.

Second time at The Shed and it won’t be the last. A great place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. Football was on but wasn’t distracting. Relaxed, cosy atmosphere with a fantastic Sunday lunch. What could be finer !!

Visited 5.30pm...Very noisy...obviously some had been in a while...Not for people with hearing aids......Chicken was dry and overcooked...slightly crisp at the edges.....Chips pale and a little soggy....Salad and stilton was lovely NOT FOR US. SORRY

Never knew this place existed until a Google search for places to eat near me and have to say I was very impressed. We had the pork belly sunday roast. Huge portions so excellent value for money and tasted so good. Service was very quick and the chap behind the bar was very friendly

Excellent Roast beef dinner as usual and good service, thanks. Bit noisy with the football but we knew that and it does add to the atmosphere a little

Overall nice meal out. Food was hot and plentiful. Kids meal was a great size. Service was quick and friendly. It was a Saturday night but for 6:30pm it was loud and some other customers had clearly had a few to drink even by then. Just something to be considerate of if dining with children or anyone hard of hearing.
