About The Smokey Cow

Formerly the Seven Stars, this village pub in Beckbury on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border has been given a complete renovation by new owners The Craft & Jam group. Now known as The Smokey Cow, it boasts a light and spacious restaurant with a social bar as the centrepiece and a log burner to cosy around in winter. Expect classic homemade meals, authentic smoked pit BBQ and pies ranging from beef to full of greens to gluten-free; all served with traditional sides (with some funky twists) and good ale in a rustic rural location. Live music on Saturdays too.

Went here for birthday celebrations…. Not happy! There were huge amount of flies in the building whilst eating which wasn’t nice. Staff lacked experience as didn’t know what drinks they had to offer. Food was nice, even though starters was cold ( still tasted good ) Very rushed towards the end as they had to wash up. Then manager short changed us £10 and got extremely defensive when questioned. I now feel robbed! Unfortunately won’t be returning!

The food was unreal, the pub itself is so lovely and inviting and the staff were super friendly. Definitely will be coming back, really enjoyed it

Having previously visited here and number of times and loved it, I am disappointed to say this visit was not as positive. We waited almost 50 minutes for our starters and a further 30 minutes for our mains. The food itself was delicious and well cooked but the poor service dampened the mood. The manager did apologise for the wait which we appreciated.

Visited for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly service and great food. What more do you need? The 'burnt bits' starter was delicious and thoroughly recommended. Portion sizes were just right - not too big, but not too small. First visit, but wont be our last - will definitely be revisiting.

Party of 5. All enjoyed our food very much. Mains and puddings. Good service.

We’ve been here a few times and the food didn’t disappoint. Great value and really tasty. We had to wait for nearly 30 minutes to be served and the food took at least a further 40 minutes to be delivered. The server was very polite and offered us 20% discount for the delays which helped. I noticed they are advertising for new chef/staff so hopefully this will be sorted.
