About The Three Tuns

Just steps from the Saxon Shore Way at Lower Halstow on the Medway estuary in Kent, The Three Tuns dates back to 1468 and has had an ale licence since 1764. It’s a traditional-style pub with beams, exposed brickwork and a crackling open fire and has a separate dining area as well as a large streamside beer garden to the rear. Food is served every day (except Tuesday) right through from 12 noon onwards with a seasonally changing menu. The Three Tuns is also a Free House and is the Swale CAMRA Pub of the Year 2024.

This pub has become a standout favourite for our annual badminton club summer meal. This year 14 of us settled in for a great evening meal. The food was excellent and every plate from each course was sent back empty. The chefs prepare amazing food, with full plates set out in an appetising manner. The servers are fast and discreet, pleasant and courteous. Another very memorable evening, enjoyed by all. Thank you to all the staff at the Three Tuns

Very nice cozy pub. Food was very good. Also they accepted to host a large party on a short notice. It’s in a nice little village located very close to river side.

A friend had recommended here so a booking was made for 4 of us but unfortunately 2 had to drop out due to health problems . I notified the 3 Tuns and confirmation was made every step of our contact (brilliant) My companion said she was tempted with Stake and Ale pie but as she had it before she knew it would be too much for her, so settled for ham eggs and chips which was a large plateful. I settled for the Seafood Board, during the meal we discussed whether I should request a “doggy bag” , resulting in the conclusion “large portions that were well prepared”. Although it was an hours drive for me I considered it was well worth the trip. Definitely will be returning.

On an early Friday evening we ate skate wings with caramelised butter and capers. the fish covered the plate and their was some discussion that a doggy bag might be required. The fish had be excellently cooked and was well presented by courteous staff.
