About The View

The View is situated on the cliffs of Whitsand Bay on the Rame Peninsular with commanding views out to sea, but close enough to the Torpoint ferry to be accessible for an evening meal if you're coming from the Plymouth area. Run by Matt and Rachel Corner and their friendly team, The View is a superb choice for informal and relaxed high quality dining. Matt -- who has cooked at the highest level for 16 years and used to be head chef at the 3-AA-rosette Well House near Liskeard -- jumped at the chance of running his own seafood restaurant. The 32-cover venue is bright and spacious with a light wood and white colour scheme and it offers â€˜The View' from all tables. Enjoy lunch either inside or out on the al fresco terrace with a great-value daily changing menu that offers lighter or more substantial versions of mussels, scallops or cod. There are also larger mains that feature that day's catch or a meat choice. With everything being made from scratch on the premises and Matt's confident cooking using the best sesasonal, local produce, this is a fabulous choice for superb modern British food that is stylishly presented. At night, the restaurant and its location become extremely atmospheric and you can enjoy an intimate meal from the daily changing menu and a stroll along the cliffs afterwards

The food is technically brilliant but the service grudging and ungracious. It makes all the difference if the chef makes an appearance at the tables and when the staff are friendly and helpful - rather than pointing you to a table, taking your order, bringing the food and taking your money!! Little touches make all the difference and it is this lack of attention to the detail that prevents me being a regular!! Lessons could be learned from the Blue Plate along the coast in Downderry.

This place is not just about the view, the food is awesome and excellent value too. The seafood tasted really fresh and was cooked beautifully. If you like chocolate, the hot chocolate mouse is the perfect finish. It tastes sublime. Definitely recommend a visit.

A real treat - superb sea food served by friendly and helpful staff. A must for visits to SE Cornwall

Rame View Café

Now renamed The View, new owner and chef inplace, it's early days but the food was amazing, mainly fish dishes, you wouldn't want to eat anything else looking out across Rame Head and Whitsand Bay. The hot chocolate mousse was to die for.
