About Unicorn Inn

Dating back more than 400 years, The Unicorn is the oldest pub in Ambleside. It's situated on North Road, just round the corner from the Tourist Information Centre, and is known for both its traditional home-cooked food and live music. It also has six ensuite bedrooms and is a popular base for walking holidays in the Lake District. The pub looks the part with oak beams and log fires and food is served here every day at lunch and dinner. Everything is prepared in-house and specialities include mixed grills, local Rainbow trout and their Hungarian meatballs prepared to a 100-year-old recipe. There is also a choice of wines and cask ales from Robinsons. The music nights here are renowned as the best in Cumbria, attracting musicians from right across the country.

small pub so get there early. The bar meals are lovely and the steaks cooked to perfection to your liking (with proper chips!). Friendly staff and reasonable prices for food and drinks. Would definitely recommend.
