One of Windermere's longest established restaurants, Villa Poistano is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike serving traditional Italian food. Enjoy an intimate and vibrant dining experience in a rustic setting. The menu offers authentic Italian favourites like risotto with wild mushroom and gorgonzola or cannelloni and finished off with creamy profiteroles. Villa Positano is tucked away down a side street in Bowness. The food and quality is excellent and the service is very efficient. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quiet and romantic. We visit every time we're in Windermere, booking highly recommended.

Love love love this restaurant, food is gorgeous, great staff, very welcoming, fab menu, just can't rate it enough. This is also where my fiance chose to propose, the lovely manager gave us free champagne, can't wait to visit again next monday or tuesday when we are back in Windermere x x

Over the last 5 years we have been regular customers until tonight's experience which I have reported on trip adviser and intend to report to the National Tourist board. Incredibly bad rude service and cold food and when I rang later to discuss in was told I do not want to talk to you and the rude man hung up.

Glad we booked in advance, even for a Sunday evening. Superb menu, excellent quality food with nice choice of specials. Great atmosphere and 1st class service. Looking forward to a repeat visit next month!

I used Villa Positano Italian restaurant last year for a takeaway They were very accommodating and the pizzas were excellent; hence why we are doing the same again this year!!

My husband and I have a boat moored in Bowness Bay, and so we regularly visit Bowness. We have been going to the Villa Positano for 5 years now and never once been disappointed. Fantastic authentic Italian food. The best fillet steak in Cumbria and always cooked to perfection. We usually have to book a table, even in winter-always a sign of a good restaurant. Lovely to visit a real family-run Italian restaurant!

Would not eat at this restaurant again. Garlic Mushroom starter were the worst I've sampled, and the garlic bread with cheese was burnt.

We went to this restaurant may bank holiday weekend. Surroundings were very nice & the house red but unfortunately I couldn't say the same about the food. I had steak rossini , the actually steak was nice, but wasn't cooked as I requested. the sauce was awful sweet sherry sauce & really wasn't very nice. My fiance ordered halibut , was nicely cooked but no sauce with it .With the main courses we got a small bowl of roasted peppers & aubergines & a few under done roasted potato's. We were very disappointed with the meal as it was for a special birthday . Wouldn't recommend .this restaurant.
