Craig and Louise Sherrington are redefining fine dining at their new restaurant in Ulverston. Virginia House aspires towards seamless service with none of the traditional formality -- expect relaxed fine dining, great food and equally good wine. Choose from modern British classics from the kitchen and contemporary, edgy dishes prepared using only the finest quality ingredients, sourced from local suppliers wherever possible. Chef patron Craiq is classically trained with a wealth of experience in Michelin-starred kitchens under the mentorship of highly respected chefs like David Everitt-Matthias of Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham and Eric Chavot of Brasserie Chavot in Mayfair. Previous owners of the General Burgoyne, a little country pub a few miles down the road in the village of Great Urswick. the Sherringtons transformed it from an ailing hostelry into the 'go to' dining establishment for the area. And they're doing the same here at Virginia House with their first AA rosette in September 2016 quickly followed by a second in May 2017 and in 2018 Craig was a finalist in BBC2's Great British Menu.
Visit us over the last weekend of November to soak up the Dickensian Christmas atmosphere in Ulverston - one of the biggest festivals of it's kind in the North of England! The decs will be up, the lights will be on and we'll be entering into the festive spirit and donning (not quite so traditional) Dickensian outfits!
