About White Lion at Alvanley

Once part of a farm and steeped in history, the White Lion sits at the heart of the community in the idyllic Cheshire village of Alvanley. It provides a warm welcome year-round with four roaring fires on the go in winter and landscaped gardens and a patio area coming into their own in summer with views out over the Cheshire plain and the Welsh hills. The pub is also bedecked with hanging baskets and planters and the award-winning displays are quite the draw. The White Lion has a range of quality cask ales and beers along with a great selection of wines plus a menu packed full of mouth-watering dishes and daily specials. Walkers are welcome at the White Lion and the pub produces its own guide to local walks, downloadable from the website.

No sunday luch ar all we had booked for 4 pm understand it may have been busy, but surley 1 meat coukd be available. We waited 30 mins for a drink no veg with the liver and it was rock hard. Really disapointed

Drove from Anglesey to meet my son & partner. Lovely atmosphere from walking in. Food was ordered and took a little while to come but wow , when it did , it was amazing! My son and I had Sunday lunch.. was offered turkey/gammon . I was a little indecisive but was offered the option of a bit of both… absolutely the best decision. Son’s partner had fish goujon baguette and chips .. great portion size with the most fabulous crispy chips. Sunday lunch was amazing, again great portion size. Staff were attentive but didn’t pester .. cannot praise the whole experience enough ! Will definitely be back

Birthday Booking for 10 ladies. Staff friendly and approachable. Bit of a wait between food order & food delivery but food lovely once it arrived. Staff sorted out Birthday cake for us too.

Fabulous birthday lunch!! The food was gorgeous… well cooked and well presented. The White Lion has certainly improved their food since we last visited. No complaints. Everything was cooked perfectly and portions were excellent too. A great experience.

We came here for a Sunday roast to celebrate my birthday. Lovely meal and catered for gluten free. Food is value for money and very well presented. I have been coming here the past couple of years and will continue.
